Four years ago I left home with a camera.

Still haven’t found a reason to stop.

Another trip around the sun, another year around the world 🌍✨

I don’t really celebrate my birthday anymore - but more so use it as a day to reflect on the decision to leave everything behind 3 years ago to chase something unknown.

It’s been one of the most difficult yet rewarding experiences of my life.

As I creep closer to the young age of 40, I’m more and more focused on taking care of my mind, body and soul while being grateful, even through the crazy instability of this life - solving this is my focus for 2026.

Everyday I miss my friends and family deeply, but I’m blessed for the new relationships I’ve developed along the way — whether it’s someone I met for an hour or for a lifetime.

Just to hold myself accountable, I’m announcing I’ll be writing a book/guide on living this lifestyle. Would you read it? taken in Mykonos, Greece by @hallwanders

4 years ago today, I left the US.

Today is also my birthday, so it felt right to look back (like a Virgo would).

35 unique countries. 60 total visits. 100+ flights. More friendships, mistakes, photos and stories than I could count.

Here’s what 4 years of chaos taught me.

A steady paycheck felt safer than it actually was, so I quit. More recently, I took another leap and started building something of my own - closed my first deal on nerve, uncertainty, and no real safety net.

I’ve chased connection across the world and learned you don’t always need the same language to connect. I picked up Spanish and Portuguese along the way, still chasing fluency in both. At least I can laugh in three languages now: haha, jajaja, kkkkk.

Somewhere along the way, I learned to genuinely enjoy my own company. For a long time I thought something was wrong with me that needed fixing. Eventually I realized I just needed a different life - more movement, sunlight, people, purpose, and uncertainty.

I made friends I’ll have forever, the kind where a year apart feels like no time at all. And to my friends and family back home - you don’t always understand this life, but you’ve always respected it. That means more than you know.

You realize pretty quickly you don’t need nearly as much as you think. Most of what matters is people, and whatever fits in a suitcase.

Home stopped being a place and became something I build wherever I land.

But the photos never show everything. Lonely nights. Missing real community. A chronic back injury that still limits my mobility. Still questioning if my content is good enough. Wondering if I have anything important enough to say.

The glamorous parts and the ugly parts are both real.

I left because I wanted to see what was out there. Now I know a lot more about what I want to build when I find a reason to stop moving.

I still don’t have all the answers. I’m not sure I ever will. Maybe that’s the point.

If I’ve ever inspired you to take a risk, leave your comfort zone, book the flight, quit the job, or just live differently - leave me a comment. I’d genuinely love to hear it.

There’s rarely a reward without leaving your comfort zone - it’s actually where the real danger lives. That’s one of the biggest takeaways from the last few years.

I’ve bungee jumped, jumped out of planes, done all that. But heights have always scared the shit out of me. So even a climb like this had me on edge the whole way up. The view made it worth every bit of it.

Pedra da Gávea takes about 6 hours round trip, ascending roughly a kilometer. One of the best experiences I’ve had here in Rio. taken in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro by @hallwanders

Getting high on Sugarloaf aka Pão de Açúcar.

4th time in Rio and it was my first time hitting this tourist attraction. Iconic views (especially id you take the second tram up to Morro da Urca) that are well worth the crowds.

Go on Tuesdays and Thursday for a DJ set… but note to self: it ends at 5pm.

And what they don’t tell you: the line to get down the mountain can be hours long. Plan accordingly. taken in Pão De Açúcar, Rio De Janeiro by @hallwanders
