Couple shows coming up this weekend!!

After playing for the old folks Friday afternoon, I (Hals), will be playing a 3 hour set in Vicksburg at the @distantwhistle ~ music starting at 6 and going till 9pm!

Then Saturday we have a full docket with a private party during the day, and a duo show with @jeremiahwengermusic and I at the Wealthy Theatre Annex, for @grandriverfolkarts ~ show starts at 7pm and tickets are $15

Next Friday 10.16 I'll be rippin' up north at @snowbelt_brewing (solo) 8-11pm

And don't forget to mark your calendars for 10.30 at @thestraygr with @futuretime_stringband @the_rupple_brothers wsg @picky_fingers ~ Tickets go on sale Friday!!!

From my very first open mic, just over 4 years ago, to @wheatlandmusic in just a couple short days!

Music has always been what makes my heart beat. I have been singing since I could talk, playing an instrument since I could recite the alphabet, and committed, body and soul, to sharing my craft with the world ever since I got sober 5 years ago.

My brother once told me that he never met anyone who listened to more music. He thought it bizarre that I couldn't withstand the silence. How could I? There's so many songs, artists, styles, and genres to appreciate. Even if I listened to new music every waking second, I'll never live long enough to soak up every incredible piece that exists.

I'm so grateful, and I do not take the privelege lightly. Everything I've done, feels like it's been leading up to this moment. The guitar lessons that I hated and quit when I was 8. The band practice logs. @gazewaveband !! Every single @tiptopdeluxebargrill and @turnstilesgr open mic.

I recognize that when I was showing up to open mic 4 years ago with my Bob Dylan and kitschy originals, that it was not the same polished product I present now. I realize now that being a novice, is a requirement to becoming an intermediate or advanced player.

Nevertheless, everyone kept inviting me back, inviting me to sit in, and inviting me to jams I couldn't keep up in. Somewhere along the way something clicked. The harmonies started stacking, the notes were following progressions, and the songs started moving people.

There's a long road ahead,but at the end of the day, I feel endlessly thankful for the community that taught me everything I know, Wheatland being a huge part of that. I'm so blessed with the absolute best band anyone could ask for- my best friends, all committed to their craft.

I'm honored to play the same stage at the same festival that's been graced by so many icons like @fullcordband and @billystrings, and to be on the lineup alongside so many wonderful friends like @thevelvetboys and @sweet_dee_music. It's almost a bigger honor to be a steward of the tradition. I get to watch one of my students perform at Wheatland on Sunday!

Still in absolute awe that we get to share the stage with so many insanely talented artists in just about 10 days! Last year at @wheatlandmusic, Red Thyme played the Centennial Stage Open-Mic on Saturday morning. This year, we're playing the Centennial Stage Saturday night as part of the official lineup! We are so honored. ❤️

I attended my first ever jams at Wheatland nearly 5 years ago. Took my first guitar breaks. I remember being a Wheatie, and feeling shy about singing out and doin' my lil hootin & hollerin thing... @kealavenema (as she always does) re-affirmed me, "That's how you get noticed!!"

@bruceling_hawksandowls invited me many times into circles that are older than me, with all the old-timers, and let me hang a while longer even when I couldn't quite get down that one crooked tune (that I now, can't get enough of!)

I'm absolutely elated to be bringing them both on stage at various points next Saturday, 09.12! We love a good full circle moment. 🙂‍↕️

Not to mention how excited I KNOW my beloved bandmates are. @gahunkafunka , our bass player, has been going to Wheatland longer than I've been legal to vote, and since has brought so much joy to Wheatland- whether through the silly walks, the joke circle (which is still on!!!,) or our soon-to-be debut set at Wheatland.

Everyone in the band can hardly wait, but I know for a fact some of us may cry some happy tears, some may make it off stage dry-eyed. I know I won't. 😅

Sorry for the ramble, and if you made it this far- thank you. This is the biggest opportunity I've had so far, and the most special by a landslide. It's so much more than a gig to me. Thank you everyone who has been to every show, streaming our music, engaging online, and showing me unending kindness when the going gets rough. I love you all, can't wait to party under the big tent!!! ⛺️ 🎙️ 🎶 🪕 🎻 🌾
