About friggin time!! @themightyfallband full length is finally out. I’m not gonna lie to you, this was a lot of really hard work and I gave myself a bunch of gray hairs wearing many different hats to get it made. The boys absolutely killed it, turned in knockout performances all around. I’ll probably share some behind the scenes stuff this week but for now just taking a second to be proud of these songs and what it took to get them out. I hope you like it even half as much as I do by @ham_cravings

ICYMI: @themightyfallband - Let The Right One In (official video)

Had a blast doing this - shot it in my basement with all of the cabinets we collectively owned plus a few loaners to build a little studio apartment down there. Insanely sweaty, moderately stressful to shoot and very therapeutic and fun to cut together. Shots are a combination of an SLR Magic toy lens I found online with a few shots of a clip on fisheye on my phone as well. This can be you too - if you have no money and want to make a video that still looks cool, slap a DM in my inbox and let’s make some movie magic happen by @ham_cravings

I won’t hit the character limit on here a second time, but know it could happen ten times over and I’m taking it easy on you. What we experienced yesterday was a real outpouring of love way beyond just “someone lost their pet.” Truly an overwhelming amount of messages, but what makes that extra special is every comment or message that said “she was the best, or “I loved her” was someone who actually met Brooklyn and meant it. She had an unusual life between all of our music and art endeavors, so many people came through the places we’ve lived and she had the opportunity to make so many more friends than the average house cat might normally. She was a true pillar of the community; a beloved presence, and if she ever met you, she adored you. Thank you for all of your stories and your kind words. Yesterday was one last gift of love from Brooklyn. I’ll see her everywhere for the rest of my days. by @ham_cravings

“You have to meet Brooklyn.”

A decisive statement from the shelter when I asked if any cats were older, or seemed sad, or had been there a while. I realize now what they meant by that is she was specifically waiting for me to arrive. She woke me up that night by farting like a grown man next to my head.

The Brooklyn stories are many. Turning the gas on while jumping onto the stove to liberate a Buffalo chicken pizza and nearly blowing us all to hell in the process. Sneezing so hard in her sleep that she shit herself, then tearing through the house with it half out of her ass. Recording her for an album. Catching a mouse and breaking its neck in the middle of the living room. Cricket slaughter in our Pawtucket basement. Preshow good luck ritual. Podcast cohost. Halloween party guest of honor. The list goes on.

Brooklyn did very important work in her 18 years of life. When Andrew and I lived together, she taught his daughter from age 3 how to be kind and gentle to an animal through her unfailing patience for a child’s enthusiasm. After Giulia and I moved in together, she watched over Rudy in his last days through her unfailing patience for small dogs. Three cats went home from shelters because she was so beloved amongst our friend group. Her adoring public included people that had no connection with animals, and others who by their own admission were scared of cats. She’s been a truly loving companion through huge triumphs, real lows, and everything in between, soundtracked by her screams for treats and nonstop thunderous purrs. I’m trying to remind myself of all of this, so the grief of being without her doesn’t overshadow the light she was to me and many others.

Brooklyn. Fat baby. Big mama. My soul cat.

I hope you get all the hot pocket cheese and belly rubs you could ever want wherever you are now. I hope you know that you saved my life that day at the shelter. I hope I managed to pay you back for that.

I buried you under your favorite tree so you can be in the sun forever. I already miss you so much that I feel like I’m dying of a broken heart. Thank you for choosing me. I hope you find me again.
