Today from 12:00 until 23:00 we have a one-day only immersive sound-installation by our HCA residents of 2026! Scattered around Roodkapje are makeshift vessels, each built from objects and surfaces found in the histories of Keileweg. Stories echo in syncopation, resonating the rhythms of industry, ownership, and the people who lived and worked here in the past till today. This is the first of a two part activation exploring Keileweg as a historical well, which will occur in September. Every 2nd Tuesday of the month Roodkapje hosts a time slot at Operator Radio;; an online radio station and cultural platform dedicated to enriching the music and cultural landscape of Rotterdam and beyond, with a special focus on alternative sounds and underrepresented stories. It’s time to introduce you to the new artists in residence and their first events! Say hello to the Hamburger Community of 2026: @nernada, @josimarjgomes, @icarusclapped, @merelroijaards, @himhili The Hamburger Community 2026 is a group of artists, cultural workers, musicians — with shared suspicions of permanence, and in search of it, still. Their practices are analog by default: handed over in person, experienced live, half-baked and still warm. For them, telling stories is the oldest form of community memory. They treat potlucks as a learning method, broadcasts as entering worlds and textile as a way of holding time. Together they act as a hot pot: each person flavors a body of water with knowledge they brought in. Nobody owns the broth. In the upcoming nine months, expect collective public takeovers around sound, flavours and exchange — and whatever else spills. They have taken over the position of curator from Wan Ing Que, who contributed greatly to the Hamburger Community residency within its endeavor to cultivate collective work. Yin Yin Wong is a multidisciplinary artist working across a range of media including performance, sculpture, drawing and site specific installation. With their experience as educator, artist and critical thinker we are excited to embrace their vision that’s geared towards public work and collective resilience at Roodkapje. Tuba Kılıç @himhili is an Istanbul-born and Rotterdam-based artist, chef, teacher/learner, and cultural worker whose practice unfolds between food, pedagogy, and collective forms of study. Working across kitchens, classrooms, cultural institutions, and shared public spaces, she approaches cooking not simply as a form of feeding. She sees these gestures as ways of thinking, remembering, and learning with others. Her work often begins with ordinary gestures and everyday acts: chopping vegetables together, waiting for something to boil, sharing a table, walking, listening, or spending time collectively. Through these processes, she explores how knowledge is formed through bodies, repetition, labor, and presence rather than through fixed hierarchies or predetermined outcomes. Merel van Erpers Roijaards @merelroijaards is a queer visual artist, costume designer and textile worker. In her artistic practice she makes costumes for humans, and costumes for buildings. Costumes for humans often grow into a part of a wider context; a performance, a story, an installation. Spatial costumes are always site specific and often incorporate research about the site they are tailored for, but always made from textiles.  She sees her artistic practice as stories within a story. Stories and rituals of modern and future folklore, stories about bodies, stories on queerness, stories on murder ballads and even a story on her love for the banjo. Josimar Gomes @josimarjgomes is a multidisciplinary artist, emcee and theatre kid from Rotterdam. Inspired by the likes of Mos Def, Outkast and Erykah Badu and active since 2016 professionally, his musical work consists of multiple eclectic genres rooted in R&B, Soul and disco while standing on his strong foundation of Hiphop. As an emcee he has been the poster child of grassroots organisations such as Notes and Yardbird and as a theatre professional he has performed several times at @theaterrotterdam and festivals such as @o.festival.rotterdam, @motelmozaique and @dtrh_festival.  As an event organizer specifically for Roodkapje, he strives to connect communities through collective work while being keen on exchanging skills through participatory events in the city of Rotterdam. 📷 by @michelemargotphoto taken in Keileweg by @hamburger.community

Julian Crestian @icarusclapped often uses the phrase “Allochtoon* in (his) own country”. It’s a kind of oxymoron he uses to refer to his experience in the Netherlands, born with Dutch nationality, partially culturally Dutch, but still experiencing a feeling of alienation from the continental European Netherlands. This alienation is present both here in the Netherlands and in Curaçao. Julian embodies an experience that is unique as such that he saw a lot of differences between himself and others, with all the good and bad that comes with it. He is a child of Korsou, born, raised, and engaged in certain parts such as genealogy, art, education, and heritage. His curiosity about these differences and their implications are what draws him to document observations through text and art. The multitude of subjects and consequences of capitalism, colonial profit, power, and the ways in which they affect modern-day discourse within Curacao and the Netherlands take up the most focus in his work. *Allochtoon is an often loaded dutch word for a foreigner. 📷 by @michelemargotphoto taken in Keileweg by @hamburger.community

Nabila Ernada @nernada is a media artist and researcher based in Rotterdam. Her work begins where surveillance meets resistance, tracing how media and technological systems decide who gets to be seen, documented, or made to disappear. Rooted in postcolonial thought, she moves through archives and bureaucratic structures the way others move through rooms: carefully, looking for what was left behind. Working through pulp magazines, state technologies, films and sound – her work reimagines media infrastructures as a longer history of listening and control, asking what it meant to broadcast, to be heard, and to be watched, all at once. Currently, she is a PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam, researching Indonesian voices within Dutch colonial radio infrastructures.
