After the love and support I’ve received from everyone I’ve gotten countless requests to share my story connected with the events that took place in Iran this past week so I’ll briefly get into it (long read)

9 months after my birth in 1993 my parents decide to flee the Regime in Iran to create a better life for us. We left in the middle of the night in November on a cold rainy evening. Walked hours on end through mine fields, escaping wolfpacks, and military and law enforcement to get to the border. We get to a small village on the border and they told us to wash up and get ready because we have a long commute to another city where we have to live for 2 years in to be accepted into America. The trek itself has a LOT of horrific details attached to it, but with the right resources, financial backing, and platform, I plan to tell my family’s story detail for detail through interviewing my parents, writing a book, and even visual portrayal in the near future.

This regime has displaced, murdered, ripped apart, and ruined the lives of many families. Our story doesn’t even scratch the surface. That’s why the events that took place over the last week were so important for Iranians around the world. That’s why we celebrated, danced, rejoiced, CRIED. This is more than just a disagreement with your own government. This is the fight for freedom and the right to live.

Because Iran is ran by a radical regime called the Islamic Republic, people of other faiths, background, and religion and WOMEN don’t have same access to freedom. I as a Baha’i wouldn’t be able to get access to education, or go certain places. Due to the trek to freedom, I’ve developed many childhood traumas such as darkness, silence, lonliness, that I’ve had to go to therapy for. My story isn’t special, or a priority, my story is just ONE story that peaks into the hell that Persians have had to endure for the last 47 years.

Every single day, I commend my parents and my sister for doing what they did. And they had to deal with a whiney 9 month old that wouldn’t stop crying even after being fed sleeping pills (high tolerance I got that DAWG in me I know). (Check comments for the rest) #FreeIran 💚🦁☀️❤️ by @hamihomz
