Everyone loves the winter except for us.

I couldn’t sleep all night because of the rain. My clothes, my belongings, and I were all drenched. With nowhere else to go, we spent the night on the streets, shivering in the cold, soaked to the bone. Today, we visited the graves of my father, my brother’s wife, and his nine children martyrs of the battle of injustice and genocide.

We watered their graves, spoke to them, and expressed how much we miss them. In the photo, my mother sits alone, having lost her husband, her support, and the closest people to us.

The resilience of the @alaydifamily is exemplified by Dr. Rolla Alaydi’s nephew, Yamen’s pride in his corn. This past May, Yamen was injured in the Rafah tent fires…. Yamen is a survivor like his family, like the Palestinian peoples and his great grandmother, Norah. Despite being forced off her land and home in 1948 and never allowed to return, Norah continued her indigenous relationship with the land and passing on Palestinian culture, wisdom and recipes down through generations. Maher now needs heart surgery to survive. It is not possible in Gaza because the IOF has destroyed the medical infrastructure. Samah told me weeks ago that there is no meat, bread or vegetables in the market place. Samah misses Maher and hasn’t seen him since the beginning of October. They keep rising like phoenixes despite living under apartheid in a g cide, that continues to get worse. Please read their story. @maher_and_samah are not numbers. They are human like you and I. Samah asks me,”Is it possible? A people fear the rain?
She says, “We are proud people
Even with its beauty and delightful atmosphere
We hope the most beautiful season of the year never comes again. The tents are worn out from the summer sun. It cannot withstand the winds and rains of winter.” Samah is @alaydi2023 ‘s relative. She is an engineer who donated 8 months of risking her life daily to help lead a team in creating a data base of displaced Palestinians. She volunteered until she got sick. She is living in unlivable conditions that will continue to get worse.
