Skateboard filming is an expensive hobby and we have all heard the lore and astronomical prices of the iconic “Century Optics Xtreme Fisheye” running from $13,000+ (shown on slides 3 & 4). What if a company like @invizworld created a consumer version for 60x less?! This 1 of 4 prototype “Big Ass Fisheye” as they have deemed it, is just that! A full frame AFFORDABLE giant fisheye the maintains the skateboard video industry standard, and doesn’t cost a second mortgage! More posts with footage and info to come but this is my new main setup and couldn’t be more happy!

The comparison/ test footage of the @invizworld “Big Ass Extreme Fisheye Prototype” vs. the Veledge .3x Super Fisheye.

The first 6 shots are of me all placed in the exact same spot, height and angle for direct 1 to 1 comparison. The last 3 are throw away clips of my friend @ogtakumi.pr all filmed by me on the “Big Ass Extreme”. All shots are the direct output with no cropping or editing. Both are equipped to my Panasonic HC-X1 using a 67mm spacer and a 67mm to 72mm step up ring.

I had been using the .3x super fisheye pretty frequently and actually do not see a problem with it at all! Great lens and fit, and for only around $200 is a very cost effective way to jump right in or operate with little fear of having to buy a replacement.

The “Big Ass Extreme Prototype” is an attempt to combat the price and scarcity of the “Century Optics Xtreme Fisheye” that goes for over $13k even used… This full frame lens offers perfect fit and bed without having any vignette. The best part is this is expected to be priced below $1k.. Giving people the peace of mind to not have to break the bank to have a cool lens.

The weight pairs nicely with the X1 and the other larger 4k Panasonic series camcorders. It balances well in hand and doesn’t strain my arm to hold in the low angle or tilt around. I do not feel the need for “rails” in this setup. As you can see on these larger series Panasonic’s there is NO extra room between the lens and mic. It fits PERFECT! But I have had to cut a small slot in the lens cap to allow the cap to fit on while still on the camera.

In short both lenses are amazing! I’m a cost effective person and could never justify $13k for a lens and for $200 getting the job done you can’t go wrong. But I jumped at a chance for a “serious” lens at the right price and I think a lot of others would agree!

Please check out @invizworld their page has other footage and views of this lens against the actual Century Xtreme and mounted on the more common HVX/ HPX series camcorders.

Feel free to message me with any questions, suggestions, whatever!
