The big golden head slipped through my fingers, but what a weekend. So much fun dressing up, seeing old friends, making new ones, and celebrating Attack on London: Hunting the 7/7 Bombers alongside so many brilliant people. My big little bro even popped along to witness the razzmatazz.

Brain full of great memories. Massive congrats to all the winners ❤️

When I first got up on stage, I was absolutely petrified.
But being amongst such talented and respected editors, and hearing about their experiences, quickly settled my nerves. It’s always reassuring hearing the similarities in how we work and realising editors are never really alone, even though we spend so much of our lives isolated in dark rooms with footage and creative instincts.

A genuinely inspiring panel to be part of.

Our time with keeper Coleman was never boring. Hanging with a soon-to-be-released crew of 6 - 7-year-olds was equal parts magic to mild anxiety. Coleman thought it hilarious that I wanted a quick escape plan (up a tree) as 13 curious elephants bundled towards me & my camera.

It was so special to see how Coleman’s bond grows with the feistiest of them all...Kelele. And I’ll never forget him calmly asking Kelele to “cool down”… mid-charge.

You’ll have to wait for episode 2 to see this oldest herd getting released back into the wild!

@dorothy_the_elephant_queen_ knows how to bring the fun into the new arrivals’ daily lives. Her giggles at their antics were infectious and there were cries of “noooo, don’t be jealous!” as they jostled for her attention. Me and @wild__jed were able to provide a little distraction - tiny trunks tugging at our arms (the best feeling), wrapping around camera cables (less endearing😂), and if a lens pointed their way, they’d usually be inside the minimum focus within seconds.

Dorothy, like Naomi, has been at Reteti since the start. The babies arrive carrying unimaginable trauma, but through the expertise and care of Dorothy & her fellow keepers, they soon find their place in a new hybrid family - keepers as mothers, fellow orphans as siblings & playmates.

See the cuddly results this weekend 🐘🤗
