POSTS STORIES REELS

Two nights before the news, this was us at our Sukkot retreat in Vermont — a bunch of Jewish guys dancing to Indian music, with absolutely no idea what was about to happen.

Then came the story of Flydubai Flight FZ1073 and Captain Smit Machchhar.

So yeah… this video hits a little different today.

So much gratitude to Hashem for the lives that were saved. And so much respect and gratitude to Captain Smit Machchhar for his courage, his strength, and for refusing to give up when other people’s lives depended on him.

To our Indian friends: you have every reason to be proud. 🇮🇳

And from Jews and Israelis around the world: thank you, India. Thank you, Captain.

From Jewish guys dancing to Indian music on Sukkot… to watching an Indian pilot become part of a story Israelis will not forget.

Baruch Hashem. Am Yisrael Chai. Jai Hind. 🇮🇱🇮🇳

Hi, we’re Leah & Moshé!! 👋🏼

Leah is from New York — American, Ashkenazi, creative, and an engineer who can turn one small idea into an entire experience!!

Moshé is from Paris — French, Sephardi, a perfectionist, and usually the person making sure those ideas actually become real 😂

Fun fact: Moshé learned the Pina Colada song from Better Call Saul and didn’t believe it was a real music. He learn how to dance on it before understanding the meaning of it 😭.

We grew up in different countries, don’t share the same native language, and definitely didn’t grow up eating the same food! Basically, we speak English, French, and a third language made entirely of confused facial expressions!!

In our personal lives, we’re both spontaneous. We love discovering unexpected places, changing direction when something looks interesting, and turning ordinary days into adventures!!

But the experiences we create for other people are carefully planned and thoughtfully designed.

Our Jewish events, Shabbat weekends, holiday experiences, creative workshops, and group trips take a lot of work behind the scenes!! Every meal, activity, atmosphere, and small detail is built to help people feel comfortable, connected, and part of something meaningful.

That combination became Hamsa Nomads ✈️🌍

Here, we share funny international-couple life, Jewish travel, kosher discoveries, cultural differences, old adventures, and the real work behind creating memorable Jewish experiences!!

More than anything, we want to bring people together and help them find community — and a feeling of home — wherever they go.

Welcome to Hamsa Nomads!! 🤍
Find your people, wherever you go.

French-American couple, funny international couple, French husband and American wife, cross-cultural marriage, Jewish couple, Ashkenazi and Sephardi, Jewish travel, kosher travel, Shabbat weekends, Jewish retreats, Jewish events, group travel, young Jewish professionals

Travel forums told us to be careful.

Sri Lanka gave us a train-car dance party.

This is why we’re building Hamsa Nomads — for the unplanned moments that become the whole story.

Just got the first snow alert for Dec 2 in NY… 🥶

After surviving last year’s New York winter, we decided to get ready a little earlier this time.

I think we’re doing pretty well so far. What do you think?

Sometimes Jewish joy looks exactly like this.

A bunch of Jewish young adults from different cities, spending a weekend together, singing, dancing, and having the best time.

Some people came with friends. Some showed up knowing almost nobody. And somehow, a few hours later, everyone’s dancing together like they’ve known each other for years.

There’s something about Jewish gatherings that’s hard to explain until you’ve experienced it yourself.

The Shabbos meals that turn into hours of conversation. The singing that starts with a few people and somehow gets everyone involved. The random connections, the Jewish geography, the inside jokes, and the friendships that continue long after everyone goes home.

Remember how much fun Jewish summer camp, youth groups, and Shabbatons used to be? Who decided we had to stop having those experiences when we became adults?

This was one of our Sukkos weekends with Hamsa Nomads, where we bring Jewish young adults and young professionals together for Shabbos retreats, Jewish holidays, travel adventures, and experiences across the country.

Because Jewish life isn’t just about preserving traditions. It’s also about enjoying them, sharing them, and creating new memories around them.

And sometimes that means a whole house full of Jews dancing together on a random weekend in Vermont.

Here’s to more Jewish friendships, more Shabbos weekends, more adventures, and more moments like these.

Tag someone you’d want to spend a Shabbos weekend with.

Yes, we like crafting, bringing people together and you know what we love so much about Shabbat? Sharing it. Having wonderful people around, bringing a minyan together, playing games, talking, meeting each other…

Since the beginning of the year, we met so many wonderful people. Creative or not, artists, gamers, musicians, singers, engineers, professors… From everywhere, Maryland, NYC, Boston, New Jersey, Florida… and even other countries. This is so impressive for us. We are proud of this long way, of all the people we met and everything we shared together. And we want to see you all this winter for another weekend! Send us a DM for any questions.

A little look back at our Sukkot in the Mountains weekend!

A big thank you to @atidjudaica for sending us these beautiful Sukkah decorations and helping make our space feel special.

From the colorful ornaments to the little details hanging around our Sukkah, we loved having their Judaica as part of our weekend.

Go check out @atidjudaica and give them a follow! They have some really beautiful pieces for Jewish holidays and your home.

“Don’t worry, we have kosher options!”

The kosher options: water. With ice if you’re feeling adventurous.

If you keep kosher, you’ve definitely had this conversation at least once.

Restaurant: “Of course we have kosher food!”

Me: “Oh amazing, what do you have?”

Restaurant: “Salad!”

Me: “Is it prepared separately?”

Restaurant: “…”

Me: “Are the ingredients kosher?”

Restaurant: “…”

Restaurant: “Would you like some water?”

And suddenly we’re back to square one.

Traveling while keeping kosher is basically a full-time detective job. You can spend three hours researching kosher restaurants, Chabad houses, Jewish communities, and kosher grocery stores before even deciding where you’re going on vacation.

Meanwhile, your non-Jewish friends are choosing restaurants based on the menu.

We’re choosing destinations based on whether we can eat anything other than bananas.

What’s the most ridiculous “kosher option” a restaurant has ever offered you?

Because someone out there has definitely been offered bacon-free bacon.

Nobody warned us about the gangs taking over the beaches of Goa, India…

We were just planning a peaceful stroll along one of Goa’s beautiful beaches. Warm ocean breeze, golden sand, incredible views of the Arabian Sea… and suddenly, we found ourselves surrounded by the local gang.

Four legs, adorable faces, and clearly convinced they own the entire beach.

One of our favorite things about exploring India as foreigners is discovering how the most unexpected moments can turn into the best travel memories.

When we first dreamed of visiting India, we imagined the incredible food, colorful streets, rich history, ancient traditions, and breathtaking landscapes. But what we didn’t fully expect was how much we’d fall in love with the quieter, everyday beauty of this country.

From peaceful mornings on the coast to watching the waves roll in and meeting some very friendly four-legged locals, Goa has a special kind of magic.

There’s so much more to Goa than its famous nightlife and tourist attractions. The beaches, tropical scenery, welcoming atmosphere, and little surprises along the way make it a destination worth exploring.

As Jewish travelers discovering India and the world, we love experiencing different cultures, exploring Jewish history and heritage, finding kosher-friendly travel options, and connecting with people wherever we go. Traveling isn’t just about checking destinations off a bucket list. It’s about the experiences and stories you collect along the way.

And sometimes, those stories involve accidentally wandering into a beach gang’s territory.

India keeps surprising us in the best possible ways, and we’re already collecting memories we’ll never forget.

To our Indian friends: Which beach in Goa should we explore next? And if you’ve never visited India, consider this your sign to put it on your travel bucket list!

Follow along as we discover hidden gems, Jewish heritage, unforgettable destinations, and the unexpected beauty of traveling around the world.

Just because the OJ Crew deserves a post of its own 🍊

Some of the people who have been with Hamsa Nomads since day one, and who keep coming back, bringing that same wonderful energy every time.

This picture captures so much of what we’ve built together. More than just events and Shabbos weekends, it’s the people who make this community what it is. We missed some of you in this pictures but we will have more occasions!

We’re so grateful for everyone who’s been part of this journey and for the wonderful community we’re creating together.

Our first Hamsa Nomads event in Washington, DC, and what an amazing time we had with you all!

Jews on the Potomac brought together Jewish young adults and young professionals from across the DMV (DC, Maryland & Northern Virginia) for an afternoon on the Potomac River!

A boat cruise at The Wharf, new faces, great conversations, and drinks together afterward. Such a fun way to meet people and explore DC!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made our first DC event so special!

We’re excited to keep bringing Jewish young professionals, singles, and couples together for more experiences around Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.

If you’re looking for Jewish social events in DC, ways to meet other Jewish young adults in the DMV, or something different from the usual networking events, follow @hamsanomads for what’s coming next!
