Introducing… Hard Art : a cultural collective creating a future of care and freedom.

Just over a year ago, artists, scientists, economists, faith leaders and activists started meeting regularly at @brianeno’s studio to discuss creative solutions to our shared societal problems and to support like-minded projects.

These meetings marked the birth of a new movement called Hard Art.

We’re excited to share what we’ve been working on with you.

Thank you Pops for making our childhoods incredible 🕊

To those that don’t know him John "Pops" Witherspoon (born John William Weatherspoon; January 27, 1942 – October 29, 2019) was an American actor and comedian who performed in dozens of television shows and films. Best known for his role as Willie Jones for the Friday series as well as grandfather ‘Robert Freeman’ in the hit cartoon series Boondocks.

Honestly words cannot describe how much both the Friday series and Boondocks meant to me growing up in boarding school in a South Africa. This man brought so much fun and laughter into my childhood through his roles in film and tv and I honestly can’t thank him enough for everything they’ve meant to me so I decided to honour him in the one way I know how

I’ve attached a couple of clips that I love of him from Boodocks and Friday in the next two slides. Thank you all for your continued and a very special thank you John for all the laughs, you’ll forever be remembered the legend you are 💛 by @hamtheillustrator

Ever seen a VR Art Exhibiton before?

A few days ago I was invited by ConinVR & @vrnetworking to put together my first ever virtual art exhibition. Honestly didn’t know what to expect but it turned out incredible.

Although I joined through my laptop (I don’t own a headset), most people in attendance were tuned in via their headsets so it was super dope (and kinda trippy) being able to connect and chat live with people from all over the world who just wanted to admire cool new art.

I know immersive tech might feel quite unknown or daunting at first but I promise its far more accessible than you think. YouTube is literally all you need so if you haven’t already definitely recommend you check this out

🎵’Neria’ written by Oliver Mtukudzi, a legendary Zimbabwean musician (1952-2019) who I had the pleasure of meeting as a young child and who was one of my mothers favourite artists growing up.

Felt the song captured the serenity of the piece beautifully by @hamtheillustrator

Hey insta,
I know it’s been a really long time since I last shared some of my art.
I’ll be honest it’s cuz it’s gotten really tough being a creative on this platform these days.
I know many other artists feel the exact same way.
Many are boycotting it.
I’m not. Not yet atleast.
I’ve worked really hard to build an amazing community here and I’m not ready to give up on that just yet.
So here’s a piece I’ve had on my iPad for literal years.
It’s still not finished.
Not sure if or when it will ever be.
But I’m tired of hiding all my art pieces just because they aren’t finished.
So here’s you go.
