This Friday at TLR | CTRL + REWIND presents — MOGADISCO

Curated with @hamza_o

8PM till late

⛓️‍💥 Tickets via link in bio!

A themed listening-and-dance night diving into Mogadisco — a celebration of the golden age of Somali music. Come through to listen, hang, and move with us on the dance floor.

Up until the early ’90s, Somalia nurtured one of the most vibrant musical scenes on the continent — shaped by centuries of exchange with Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, Persia, India, Southeast Asia, and even China. This rich blend evolved into a unique sonic tapestry: Somali rhythms intertwined with Afrobeat, reggae, Arabic melodies, Indian tonalities, and funk.

By the early ’80s, disco made its mark, giving birth to the infectious groove we now call Mogadisco.

Expect warmth, nostalgia, deep cuts, and dancefloor magic all night. taken in Ngara by @hamza_o
