During a beautiful (and freezing) Bar Harbor boat tour, we were lucky enough to see the fantastic lounging seals. They look as if they can't be bothered to find any stable spot and turn into lumps-anchored by gravity and luck- basking in the sun. Oh yea, and aquarelle pastels are soooo fun!

The struggle of running through white faster than everything else is real!! The good news? It does take time to work through your supplies when you become better at mixing (less waste), but this is a visual representation of HOW much more I use white than other colors. I have had this set for years, so that's also pretty cool how long they have lasted. But, this is also a 72-pencil color set. If it were a 12 pencil set, I'd be busy mixing with white even more! Prismacolor makes amazing color pencils if you are a casual hobbyist looking to upgrade. Game. Changer!

En Plein Air Sketch! I love my notebook and new brushes.
It's amazing how quickly things move around-- so, just try to capture as much of it as possible!

Started with a color pencil sketch, then freehand edited it with my Galaxy S Pen.

Full disclosure—I didn't use any illustration apps, just the normal photo gallery editor. So don't come for me!

It was definitely a bit tedious. The rough sketch needed a lot of work/adjustments from that point, so it took several sessions to finish. Only one editing clip made it into the video, but you can (maybe?) see part of the process!

The more illustrative (second) version is the sketch with a style texture applied. If you have a Galaxy phone with the built-in stylus you can have a lot of fun! (Galaxy ♡ foreverrr)

A little en plein air sketching during a beautiful coastal sunset! It's so fun to loosen up and let go of tight restrictions, to have fun and try and capture a glimpse of the moment, to lend the hand towards the gestural, evolving with the lapse of time.

I have a great new travel sketchbook that behaves better than expected in the outdoor elements. It lays flat, no noticeable buckling, and has a great tooth. There is an elastic band so you can hold the pages down and a pocket at the back of the journal! I love it! It's also safe for mixed media.

Color pencil sketch! Using red and green in a composition introduces tension! As they are opposites each other in the color wheel. I wanted it to feel a little intense since the subject matter is a soft wild flower.
