Ok, now I’m ready to brag a little bit. Two years ago, I had no idea what a BH was, I just knew shutzhund was something I really wanted to try. Fast forward to this weekend and I successfully trialed in my first IGP1 with Vega, and my second BH with Niri, backed up by the best coach and club I could have ever imagined— literally screaming on the sidelines for us! 😂

I’d love to say I jumped into this sport with a dog that took to it like a champ, but that was not the case for my little showline. But what she does have is moxie. Vega was a passion project for everyone involved with getting her ready for this and not a single thing went unnoticed. First, thank you to my husband for being patient, wildly supportive, and tolerant of the insanity that is dogsport. Thank you @bethbradleydogtrainer for building new tools for us, making sure we knew how to use them right, and developing the instinct to choose supporting the dog when shit goes a little wonky. Thank you @vonwolfenfelsk9 for helping us find our footing again last summer, when quitting felt like the only option, and you built a new door for us to to choose success instead. Thank you Vincent, for teaching me the difference between preparing your dog, and believing in your dog— this was the game changer. Thank you, Vega, the kindest, sweetest, large breed ankle biter, for always trusting me, and throwing it down on the field. And of course thank you to The Meanie, the “bitch” that’s going to keep me humble in the future, you really know how to make a girl grow grey hairs.

It’s an absolute joy (and RELIEF) to introduce Vega Burning Bright Von Montenegro BH-VT, IGP1👏🏼 ANNNNNDDD Iriniri Vom Sitz Von Der Hose BH-VT (now, the real work begins!) by @hanahowell

Growing up didn’t sound as fun as make believe, but what’s real is so much better than anything I imagined

Thank you @danileighphotos for capturing my past present and future in the same moment. All time is now. And it is beautiful.

Brought Niri swimming. It was interesting. But she’s living her best life out here.
