안녕하세요, 그레이바이실버입니다. 저희가 함께 모인 지 10년이 되는 해, 이런 큰 상을 받게 되어 참 기쁘고 감사한 마음이 듭니다. 자연을 찾아가고, 생각하고, 또 연주하며 앨범을 준비했고, 자연의 시간 안에서 저희는 충만하고 행복했습니다. 2018년, 피아노 위 작은 화분에 담긴 나무로부터 시작된 이 이야기는 여러 시간이 교차하며 하나의 앨범이 되었습니다. 너무 거대한 자연을 이 짧은 시간으로 설명할 수 없겠지요. 하지만 다행히도 그 속에서 보낸 시간은 씨앗이 되었고, 저희는 음악으로 아주 조그마한 싹을 틔울 수 있었습니다. 그 싹이 잘 자라나기를 바라는 마음으로 주변에서 많은 물과 햇볕을 주셨다고 생각합니다. ‘나무의 시간’은 저희가 평생토록 이어갈, 기꺼이 삶을 내어줄 아름다운 이야기입니다. 저희는 울창한 회색 숲을 향해, 자연이 그러하듯 되어야 할 모습으로, 있어야 할 곳으로 꾸준히 나아가겠습니다. 이 기쁨을 함께 나누고 싶은 사람들을 소개드립니다. 모두가 이 작업의 기둥이 되어 주셨고, 곁을 내어 주셨기에 가능한 길이었습니다. 정원사 이대길 님 @daegil._ , 사진가 김신중 님 @seenjoongsee , 현장음향 김준 님 @grayjackal , 영상 이섭 님 @submanfilm , 조명 정대원 님 @mero_automata , 아트녹의 이은하 님과 차은비 님 @bulld0zer_ , 그리고 저희의 1, 2, 3집까지 함께 동행해 주신 브릭월 스튜디오의 강효민 엔지니어 님 @brickwall_sound 과 세계 여러 나라에 소개해 주시는 영국 Pop-up Music의 Mark Garfield 님 @pop_upmusic , 마지막으로 앨범 제작에 도움을 주신 서울문화재단 @sfac2004 과 이 자리를 만들어 주신 한국대중음악상 @koreanmusicawards 관계자분들까지 저희의 박수를 함께 드리고 싶습니다. 진심으로 감사드리며, 모두 Stay Gray 🤍 - We are honored to have won Best Global Contemporary at the 23rd Korean Music Awards. In this year marking 10 years since we came together, we are truly joyful and grateful to receive such a significant award. We prepared this album by seeking out nature, contemplating it, and performing within it. Within nature‘s time, we felt fulfilled and happy. This story, which began in 2018 with a small tree in a pot on the piano, has become a complete album through the intersection of many moments in time. We cannot explain the vastness of nature in this brief moment. However, fortunately, the time we spent within it became a seed, and we were able to sprout a very small shoot through our music. We believe that many around us have provided water and sunlight, hoping this shoot would grow well. Time of Trees is a beautiful story we will continue throughout our lives, one to which we willingly dedicate ourselves. We will continue moving forward toward a lush gray forest, becoming what we should be and reaching where we need to be, just as nature does. 🤍 춘천공연예술제는 언제 찾아도 늘 아름다운 사람들을 만날 수 있어서 저희에게도 남다른 축제입니다. 춘천예술제를 찾을 때마다, 관객분들의 뜨거운 온도가 인상 깊습니다. 공연을 마치고 관객분들과 인사를 나누던 중, 한 백발의 노신사분께서 이번 무대에서 전한 <매미>를 자신의 장례식에 꼭 틀고 싶다고 하셨던 말씀이 오랫동안 가슴에 남을 것 같습니다. 자연을 한껏 노래하며 그 생각과 시간이 쌓여가니, 반복된 축적으로 생겨난 새로운 감각들이 음악가와 관객 모두를 또다른 곳으로 인도합니다. 앞으로도 더 마음을 열고 깊은 자연으로 나아가기를, 또 그 여정을 여러분에게 아름다운 음악과 사유로 나눌 수 있기를 소망합니다. 뜻깊은 축제를 위해 힘써주시는 모든 여러분께 다시 한번 진심으로 감사드립니다. 우리 모두, Stay Gray! - Chuncheon Arts Festival is a festival that means something particular to us, because every time we come here, we meet beautiful people. Every time we come to the Chuncheon Performing Arts Festival, it‘s the warmth of the audience that stays with us. After the show, while we were greeting people, a white-haired gentleman told us he wants Cicada, the piece we played that night, to be played at his own funeral. Those words will stay in our hearts for a long time. The more we sing of nature, the more those thoughts and hours accumulate, and the new senses born from all that repetition lead both musician and listener somewhere new. We hope to keep opening ourselves further, to move deeper into nature, and to share that journey with you through music and reflection. [10/9 공연 소식] 저마다의 결을 지닌 공간을 찾아가 그 공간과 어우러지는 동시대 한국음악을 담아온 시리즈, 전통공연예술진흥재단의 <디 아트스팟 시리즈>로 다가오는 자라섬 재즈페스티벌 공연이 소개됩니다. 한국음악이 이 땅 위에서 어떤 물결을 그려내는지, 그 물결을 어떻게 더 많은 분들과 나눌 수 있을지 치열하게 고민하는 프로젝트에 함께 소개될 수 있어서 기쁩니다. 그바실은 10월 9일 금요일 밤 8시 30분, 자라섬 재즈 스테이션에서 인사드리겠습니다. 우리 모두, Stay Gray! - A series that seeks out spaces with a character of their own, and brings contemporary Korean music that resonates with them. Our upcoming performance at Jarasum Jazz Festival will be featured as part of The Art Spot Series, presented by the Korea Traditional Performing Arts Foundation. It‘s a project that asks, with real urgency, what shape Korean music is taking on this land, and how that current might reach more people. We’re glad to be part of it. 9월 6일은 화가 이중섭 선생님의 기일입니다. 화가 이중섭을 기리는 마음으로, 지난해에 이어 존경하는 최열 선생님과 함께 망우리 이중섭의 묘소를 찾았습니다. 지난해 묘소를 찾아 고개 숙여 인사드리던 순간, 하늘에서 폭우가 쏟아졌던 장면이 아직도 생생한데요. 그날의 장대비가 마치 화가 이중섭의 감격의 눈물처럼 느껴졌던 지난해였다면, 올해는 특별히 동행한 꼬마 친구 한카 덕분일까요, 그 어느 때보다 화창한 날씨가 중섭 선생님의 환한 미소처럼 느껴졌습니다. 최열 선생님께서는 소담한 음식으로, 또 저희는 기도와 묵상으로 중섭을 기억하고 마음을 전했습니다. 성묘를 마치고, 함께 망우리 숲길을 걸으며 이중섭 선생님이 걸어간 길, 또 지금 우리가 걷고 있는 길에 대한 이야기를 나누었습니다. 음악이 맺어준 소중한 인연, 이중섭과 그레이바이실버 그리고 최열 선생님. 이중섭이라는 이름으로 모인 사람들과 함께한 시간이 쌓일수록, 역사 속 인물처럼 멀게만 느껴졌던 화가 이중섭이 좀 더 가깝고 더 인격적으로 따뜻하게 다가옵니다. 서로를 향한 그 따스함이 앞으로 만들어갈 음악 안에도 자연스럽게 스며들기를 진심으로 소망합니다. 세상을 떠나신 지 70년, 화가 이중섭 선생님을 마음 깊이 추모하며 잊을 망忘, 우환 우憂 슬픔을 잊는 곳, 망우리에서 - - September 6th marks the anniversary of painter Lee Jung-seob’s passing. To honor him, we visited his grave in Mangwoo-ri once again this year, joined by the esteemed scholar Choi Yeol. We still remember it clearly: bowing our heads there last year as the sky opened and rain came pouring down. If last year’s downpour felt like Lee Jung-seob’s own tears of overwhelming emotion, this year the sky was clearer than we had ever seen it. Perhaps it was our young friend HanCa, who came along with us, but the brightness of the day felt like the painter’s warm smile. Choi Yeol brought modest offerings of food, and we brought prayer and quiet reflection, each of us remembering him in our own way. After paying our respects, we walked the forest path at Mangwoo-ri together, talking about the road Lee Jung-seob once walked, and the road we walk now. A connection woven by music: Lee Jung-seob, Gray by Silver, and Choi Yeol. The more time we spend with those gathered under his name, the more the painter who once felt like a distant historical figure comes closer, warmer, more human. We sincerely hope that the warmth we hold for one another finds its way naturally into the music we make from here on. Seventy years since he left this world, we remember painter Lee Jung-seob with all our hearts. Mang, to forget. Woo, sorrow. From Mangwoo-ri, the place where grief is laid to rest. by @hanbin.art

🤍 2년 만에 다시 찾은 뮤콘, 이번 무대는 매미와 소가 자리를 함께 채웠습니다. 애정하는 한상아 작가님의 매미 그림과 함께 빠르게 지나가고 있는 여름을 누려보았고, 또 이중섭 화가의 혼이 담긴 소 작품들과 함께 드넓은 땅을 맹렬히 음악으로 달렸습니다. 현장에 계셨던 관객분들도 저희와 함께 여름의 매미, 그리고 박동하는 소의 심장 소리를 들으셨기를 바랍니다. 다음 무대는 9월 19일에 열리는 쑤믹 페스티벌 @subculture.society_ssumic 에서 만나실 수 있습니다. 동시대 멋진 아티스트들과 함께 무대를 꾸리는 만큼 꼭 놓치지 않으셨으면 하는 축제입니다. 우리 모두 곧 또 만나요, Stay Gray! - Back at MU:CON after two years - this time, our stage was shared with cicadas and bulls. We savored the last stretch of a fast-passing summer through the cicada paintings of artist Han Sang-A, whose work we deeply love. And alongside the cows carrying the spirit of painter Lee Jung-seob, we charged hard across open land through music. We hope those of you in the room heard it too - the cicadas of summer, and the thundering heartbeat of the Cow. Our next stage is the SSU:MIC Festival on September 19th, where we’ll be performing alongside some of the most compelling artists of our time. It’s a festival we hope you won’t miss. [공연소식] 더하우스콘서트 기획작, Piano X Movement II 〈말하지 않고〉 마음 깊이 애정하는 한국의 아트허브, 더하우스콘서트의 기획작 Piano X Movement II〈말하지 않고〉에 그레이바이실버가 무용수 토모미즈코시와 함께 출연합니다. 즉흥음악과 즉흥 춤과 움직임으로 이루어지는 이번 무대는 클래식부터 크로스오버, 재즈, 프리뮤직까지 총 4개의 챕터로 구성되어 있으며, 각 프로그램이 모두 다른 아티스트들의 조합으로 이루어져 있습니다. 즉흥 - 찰나의 순간이 모여 궤적을 이루는 과정이자, 우연으로부터 빚어진 필연을 구현하는, 살아 숨쉬는 예술을 온몸으로 부딪히고 함께 호흡하는 아름다운 순간. 우리는 그 순간을 진심으로 사랑하기에 공연과 앨범 속 〈다스름〉을 통해 꾸준히 그 호흡을 이어왔습니다. 이번 무브먼트와의 만남도 참 기대가 됩니다. 공연 장소는 아름다운 서소문 성지 역사박물관의 콘솔레이션 홀에서 펼쳐질 예정이며, 풍성한 라인업과 프로그램인 만큼 빠른 예매를 추천드립니다. 10월의 끝자락, 강렬했던 여름을 추억하고 성큼 다가오는 겨울을 맞이하는 시기. 여러분들에게도 좋은 터닝포인트가 되는 공연이 되기를 바랍니다. 우리 모두 Stay Gray :-) @thehouseconcert - Gray by Silver will be performing alongside dancer Tomo Mizukoshi in Piano X Movement II - ”Without Words“, a production by The House Concert, a Korean art hub we hold close to our hearts. Built entirely from improvised music, dance, and movement, the program unfolds across four chapters - classical, crossover, jazz, and free music - each featuring a different combination of artists. Improvisation - the process of gathering fleeting moments into a single trajectory. The act of giving form to necessity born from chance. A beautiful encounter where living art is met with the whole body, and breathed in together. It is precisely because we love those moments so deeply that we have continued to nurture that breath through ”Dasreum“, a piece that appears across our performances and albums. We are genuinely excited to meet Movement in that same spirit. The performance takes place at Consolation Hall in the Seosomun Shrine History Museum. With a rich lineup across all four chapters, we recommend booking early. The last days of October - a time to look back on an intense summer and step forward into the approaching winter. 🎉 Gray by Silver in Jarasum Jazz Festival 🤍 자라섬 재즈페스티벌은 모두에게 참 많은 추억이 깃든 축제이죠. 처음 축제를 만난 지 10년, 자라섬에는 그동안 여러 잊지 못할 순간들이 남겨져 있습니다. 그레이바이실버로 처음 축제에서 공연을 선보였던 다리 밑 무대, 늦은 밤의 가평 투썸플레이스 공연, 가을비와 함께 흠뻑 젖어든 여러 공연들과, 어린 시절 음악 영웅들과의 만남, 또 멋진 동료들의 아름다운 무대까지. 자라섬은 누군가에겐 꿈의 시작이 되기도, 꿈을 연결해 주는 다리가 되기도, 또 꿈꾸던 무대가 되기도 합니다. 그리고 그레이바이실버에게도 그렇습니다. 처음으로부터 10년이 지나 다시 오르는 자라섬 무대인 만큼, 멋진 공연으로 여러분들께 인사드리겠습니다. 우리 모두, 자라섬에서 만나요. 🎧 현대 그룹 매거진 <Motors Line>에 <나무의 시간> 수록곡 ‘노환선 화한선’이 소개되었습니다. 깊은 몰입을 이끄는 앰비언트 음악으로 선곡되었는데, 덕분에 함께 알게 된 훌륭한 앨범들로 주말 공기를 풍요롭게 채우고 있습니다. “바리스타처럼, 음의 미세한 떨림까지 분별하는 ‘청각’의 테이스터가 되는 것”이라는 청취법을 소개해 주신 임희윤 평론가님처럼, 여러분도 음악들 안에서 자유의 바람결을 느끼실 수 있기를 진심으로 바랍니다. <나무의 시간>은 커다란 하나의 곡처럼 생각하고 구성한 앨범인 만큼, 앨범을 오롯이 감상해 보시면 더욱 좋겠습니다. 이제 가장 가까운 공연은 다가오는 8월 12일, 춘천공연예술축제입니다. 어서 공연으로 여러분 만나고 싶네요. 🤍 Stay Gray! - Gray by Silver in Motors Line Magazine A track from Time of Tree was featured in Motors Line, Hyundai Group’s magazine, selected as ambient music for deep immersion. It’s been a lovely discovery - the other albums featured alongside ours have made for a rich weekend listening experience. Critic Lim Hui-yun described the ideal way to listen as becoming “an auditory taster, distinguishing even the faintest tremor of sound, like a barista.” We hope you find that same sense of freedom somewhere within the music. Time of Tree was conceived and arranged as one continuous piece, so listening to the full album in one sitting is the way to go. We‘re thrilled to share that we’ve been selected for PAMS Choice, the International Performing Arts Market Seoul held every October, where we‘ll be presenting Time of Tree. We’ll be taking the stage at the Haneul Round Theater at the National Theater of Korea, a venue we‘ve long dreamed of. We’re preparing a production with new staging and greater depth to match the scale of the space. We can‘t wait to see you there. Ten years since the day we first came together. In an age overflowing with vivid and dazzling color, there are moments when we fade into the background. But like a shadow, we keep finding our way toward you.
