A little moment of musical magic with @oliviagperforms. ✨🌿

The harp and the handpan come together in a way that feels so natural. We listen to each other, follow the melody, and let the music take us somewhere new.

I found the perfect place to play a melody. 🌅🌊

A piece of driftwood, the sound of the waves, and the last light of the day.

No stage. No audience. Just me, a handpan, and a few minutes before the sun disappeared.

Sometimes the best concerts are the ones you never planned. 🎶

Another summer slips quietly into the past. 🌅

I wanted to hold onto one more evening of warm water, open skies, and music flowing without a plan.

There’s something about playing outdoors that makes every note feel a little more alive.

The season changes, the moments pass, and all we can really do is be there for them.

Goodbye for now, summer. 🌊☀️🎶

I’ve been missing the sun and playing outdoors. ☀️

Sometimes what comes out is a little chaotic, but that’s part of the beauty of improvisation, capturing the moment as it is, without trying to make it perfect.

Just me, the handpan, the outdoors, and whatever wants to come out in that moment.

Everyone has a first note. 🎶
This Saturday, a beautiful group of people experienced theirs.
Two hours of exploring, listening, discovering and, most importantly, making music together. All on their very first day playing the handpan.
Watching each student find their own sound was a beautiful reminder of why we share this instrument.

Thank you for being part of this moment. ✨
The journey begins with a single note.

Flashback—Sound Healing module from last year’s 200-Hour Teacher Training ☯️

We’re so excited to welcome our friend Rodrigo Bussad back for this year’s training! If you’re interested in exploring the subtler dimensions of yoga and mindfulness—including sound, chanting, mantra, and meditation—our training has you covered.

Our 200-Hour journey begins in just over five weeks, on October 15. We meet every Thursday 6-10pm and Saturday 2-6pm. DM us with any questions!

Rodrigo Bussad, also known as @handpanmoves , is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, handpan artist, teacher, and sound healing practitioner based in Chicago. He holds a Ph.D. in Musical Composition from the University of Chicago and explores the transformative power of sound through music, education, performance, and wellness.

Renowned internationally for his handpan work, Rodrigo was an Official Artist for Handromeda Handpan and a social media representative for RavVast Drums from 2023–2024. In 2025, he founded SEW Handpan School Chicago, the first handpan school in the Midwest, where he serves as founder and head teacher, teaching handpan classes, courses, and workshops to all ages. His motto, handpan•everywhere, reflects his mission to bring the instrument into diverse musical and healing spaces.

Rodrigo has been practicing and facilitating sound healing in Chicago for four years. In 2023, he created The Sound and Body Experience, a wellness project developed in partnership with massage therapist Mackenzie Bearley Velazquez, combining massage, breathwork, and immersive live sound baths.

Through his performances, teaching, and sound healing projects, Rodrigo creates immersive environments where sound can be not only heard, but felt, bridging his background in composition and musicianship with the restorative potential of vibration. taken in The Lab - Yoga Chicago by @handpanmoves

The trees are dancing a little slower now.
Summer is beginning to let go,
and the music seems to be following.
A few notes among the trees,
listening to the season change. 🌿🎶

We both celebrated our birthdays this month. Yours was indeed a very special one dear friend @mr.bigelow 🎂

I am grateful for the friendship, the laughter, and all the unexpected places the music takes us.
I am grateful for moments like this: When we’re together, we create magic through sound.
I am grateful for the instrument that brought our paths together🛸

Here’s to another trip around the sun together, love you brother 💙

I was born on this day in 1985.

This melody has no destination.

It wanders, changes direction, and keeps arriving in places I never expected.

Maybe that’s why it feels so familiar.

I’ve never been very good at knowing exactly where I’m going either.

I just follow the next note.

And here I am. 🎶

Somewhere deep in the woods, as the last light disappeared, the handpan found its way into the story.

Trees.
A melody with a little mystery in it. 🔥🌲🎶
Maybe every place has a song waiting to be discovered.
