Creating simple and intuitive handpan playalongs and learning content.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This is my new space. A space to create, compose, teach, learn, record, collaborate. After months and months of renovating our new house, my studio is almost finished. It was such a beautiful and at the same time challenging process. But what helped me through this phase was knowing I will be able to make music here that touches mine and other‘s souls.

Who wants to come visit me for workshops, classes, composing and recording 1on1s or collaborations? :)

What you’re hearing is a new composition in the process - played on my new @maginstruments E Amara 20 🔥

I am so grateful for the past days, giving two workshops and a concert at @landesmusikakademie_rlp .
The past almost 5 months I’ve been very much uninspired playing handpan and also couldn’t imagine teaching handpan. Now, due to my wonderful students, I’ve gained back my enthusiasm to playing handpan and teaching and passing on my love for music.
Thanks!!

This one is a new @maginstruments E Amara that they sent me to work on the new @handpanpal playalongs.
Huge gratitude for your trust @maginstruments !

Noodling with @handpanpal 🎶
It feels like such a great tool for expanding your perception of harmony, chords and exploring new progressions to jam over. It’s also a super fun way to experiment with different melodies, to jump in and out of the scale and feel what’s out there.
We often tend to stay safely inside the same scale, avoiding tension, dissonance, and those “bluesy” notes… but this really opens the door to new colors and ideas.

Big up to @alexander.mercks for creating this amazing project and making it available to everyone! 🙌🌿

The cool thing about the handpan is that it has developed simultaneously around the whole world thanks to its arrival during the internet age. This means though that all my handpan buddies are scattered around the globe. So it's nice to play around with @handpanpal and jam together with @alexander.mercks despite the distance 💚

P.S. did you know the @ravvast_official F Ariumi scale fits perfectly with the D Kurd? 😎 by @handpanpal

I don’t know how it has been for u guys starting playing handpan but for me, I was damn shy about my playing. Was mostly hiding in my room playing for myself and barely in front of people. Jammin with people was definitely a no go. This @handpanpal course gives u the opportunity to play along with @alexander.mercks and his beautiful melody’s played on a D Kurd Scale. Its really a lot of fun discover all those different cord progressions he is offering and learn to listen and how to fit in to his playing. Of cause he gives a lot of space and playes with different dynamics within the harmonic field of the cord progression. I this video I play with my D Kurd 18 from @yishama_official 💎 never get tiered playing that magnificent instrument. I hope u have fun watching this video and maybe u like to try urself to play along with Alex in @handpanpal 👌🏻 sending u much love from berlin. taken in Berlin, Germany by @handpanpal

Exploring a 9-beat time signature with one of the playalongs from @handpanpal by @alexander.mercks , filmed this week at Panparadise
I found his concept incredibly intuitive and inspiring. Instead of teaching rules, he creates space for you to feel and flow

Jamming with others is one of the most beautiful things on the Handpan. But there are so many people that have difficulties holding the rhythm and changings chords reliably at the right moment. That’s why I love the idea of @handpanpal so much! There you can practice playing with others through playing with @alexander.mercks with some visual aids. Different vibes are available. When I started to jam here and I closed my eyes it felt like I was playing with my friend - I enjoyed it so much!
With @handpanpal you have the option of jamming with a friend, learn intuitively and with fun&flow. If you join until 31st of July (Thursday) - you have the chance of winning an amazing @ayasa_instruments D Kurd 10. Buy the course for a life-time access or join the community for monthly or yearly subscription to access monthly community calls where Alex will support you on your handpan journey.

@kreideweis_ gave it a go and played on top of ‚The Cascade‘ playalong.
I’ve started this series to show you how you can use @handpanpal in your playing routine. It’s not about copying what I play but rather being inspired and jamming with the video.

Thanks Markus for your support!
