Over summer break, members of the PA Class of 2027 had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala with Hands of Esperanza to serve local communities through medical care and community outreach.

Our class provided healthcare services to individuals and families while also helping build smoke diverting stoves and water filtration systems for local homes. This experience was a meaningful reminder of the importance of accessible healthcare, community partnership, and service beyond the classroom.

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn from and serve the communities we visited, and to bring these experiences back with us as we continue our journey toward becoming PAs.

This trip marked a historic moment as we began seeing patients at the new Hands of Esperanza Surgical Center in Guatemala—a dream brought to life through the partnership of AVIS, Hands of Esperanza, local leaders, and countless supporters who believed in expanding access to surgical care.
We were able to see our first patients alongside the South College PA Class of 2026 and witness this vision become a reality. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible—this is just the beginning! ❤️🇬🇹

The Hands of Esperanza and South College Atlanta Class of 2026 wrapped up an unforgettable week of clinic service. Together, we had the privilege of caring for nearly 500 patients.
