From forgotten to flourishing. ❤️🐾

At the end of January, Lars arrived at Hangry Hounds Sanctuary looking like the first photo—thin, exhausted, and carrying the weight of a hard past. His ribs showed, his body was weak, and life hadn’t been kind to him.

Fast forward to today-look at him now! 😍

He’s filled out beautifully, his coat shines, his eyes are brighter, and he’s standing a little taller every single day. While he’s still making his way through heartworm treatment, he’s doing incredibly well and taking it all in stride like the gentle soul he is.

This is what patience, medical care, good nutrition, and unconditional love can do.

Lars reminds us that healing doesn’t happen overnight. It happens one meal, one medication, one nap, one wag, and one kind moment at a time.

We couldn’t be more proud of this sweet boy. Every pound gained and every spark of confidence returning is a victory worth celebrating.

Here’s to many more milestones, Lars. We love you so much, buddy. 💜

There is something special about hound life.

It’s muddy paws on the porch. Long ears catching the breeze. The sound of a happy bay echoing across the yard. It’s learning to trust again after being let down. It’s quiet moments, second chances, and hearts that heal one another.

Every hound who finds their way here reminds me why this journey matters. They may come with stories of heartbreak, but they leave knowing what every dog deserves—to be safe, loved, and home.

I don’t think rescue coordinators and shelter staff hear this nearly enough…

Thank you.

People see the happy adoption photos, but they don’t always see what happens before that. The long days. The overflowing kennels. The heartbreaking decisions. The tears after a shift. The victories that no one else notices.

It takes a special kind of person to keep showing up when your heart gets broken over and over again.

To every rescue coordinator and every shelter employee—you are the reason so many dogs get a second chance. You answer the calls, send the emails, advocate for the ones with no voice, and never stop believing that each life matters.

I especially want to thank Kayla at Lancaster Animal Shelter. Your kindness, your heart, and your dedication have helped save so many lives. Thank you for always caring so deeply and for being someone rescues can count on.

And I sincerely hope one day you win the lottery. ❤️ Not because we want to lose you, but because after everything you’ve poured into these animals, you deserve every good thing this world has to offer.

A special thank you to my ride-or-die, Sara, and to her husband, Timmy, for dropping everything to come with me the day we brought Moxie and Mary Anne home to Hangry Hounds Sanctuary. Rescue is never a one-person job, and I’m so grateful to have people beside me who show up without hesitation. I couldn’t do this without you both. ❤️🐾

🖤Some people don’t just make music… they change lives.

The first time I heard L7 was riding in a friend’s car in high school. I remember thinking, “I want to be these girls.” Loud. Fearless. Unapologetic. They showed me that women could be powerful, gritty, rebellious, and completely themselves without asking anyone’s permission.

Jennifer Finch was a huge part of that. She helped create the soundtrack that gave so many of us the courage to embrace who we are. Her influence reached far beyond the stage.

I’m heartbroken to hear of her passing. Punk rock has lost a true legend, but her music, attitude, and spirit will continue to inspire generations of women to turn it up, speak their minds, and never apologize for taking up space.

Thank you, Jennifer, for showing a kid in high school that it was okay to be different.

Rest in power. 🖤🎸
