When the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opens its doors in Los Angeles later this month, its fifth-floor gallery will feature a major presentation of Banksy’s work, and probably one of the most unexpected collaborations in street art history.

Rather than relying solely on secondary-market works, the museum acquired pieces directly from Banksy’s studio, including never-before-seen pieces. To preserve the grit and context of street art, the installation incorporates studio-built brickwork, rough surfaces, and architectural fragments around the stencils, rather than presenting them simply as framed prints.

By placing Banksy’s work alongside legendary illustrators, painters, comic artists, and cinema icons, the museum reframes street art not as a transient subculture, but as a significant force in 21st-century storytelling.
This inclusion also highlights Banksy’s ability to translate political commentary, dark humour, and social critique into instantly understood visual narratives.

Founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the $1 billion-plus landmark, designed by Ma Yansong and MAD Architects, rises in Exposition Park, one of Los Angeles’s major cultural hubs. With 100,000 square feet of exhibition space, expansive learning studios, and a 40,000-piece collection, the museum offers a major new cultural destination centred on the power of visual storytelling.

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opens to the public in Los Angeles on 22 September 2026.

Two new works by Tim Fishlock.

Tim Fishlock’s individual word sculptures take the big ideas behind his larger pieces and
shrink them down into a much more personal format.

Influenced by the Surrealist cut-up technique, each hand-painted block brings together two
seemingly unrelated words, inviting unexpected associations, contradictions, and new meanings.
