When we arrived in Sabah, @akifkeith told us that Kota Kinabalu is known for having some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world, thanks to its location facing the South China Sea. Didn’t quite believe him until I got to experience it myself sailing on a yacht with @seeksophie ⛵️

Indeed, one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever witnessed, made even better with the best company @hungrymeen @ceciliatok ✨

When we first found this adventure in Sabah Malaysia, we thought it was too good to be true

Over this 3D2N @seeksophie adventure, we explored the foothills of Mount Kinabalu in a Land Cruiser, driving through muddy jungle tracks, river crossings and rough mountain terrain that most other vehicles definitely can’t take on. These Land Cruisers are MADE for off-roading, an iconic classic in Sabah.

But our highlight was definitely waking up to Kinabalu views right outside our tent. Honestly felt unreal unzipping the tent and seeing Malaysia’s highest mountain right in front of us first thing in the morning 🥹⛰️

Then along the way, there were so many fun little pitstops, playing in rivers, chasing waterfalls, trying white water rafting, andddd (some of us loved this most of all!) getting to drive the Land Cruiser ourselves. It looks easy, but it really was not but so much fun!!

With epic views all the way and mini adventures packed into every day, this has honestly become one of our new top favourite adventures on Seek Sophie 🥰

Missing the mountain views already ⛰️ This camping trip was such a memorable experience.

Ever since I got my driver’s licence, I’ve always wanted to drive a manual car and I finally got to tick that off my bucket list. I even had the chance to drive the Land Cruiser through the forest!

A huge shoutout to the organisers, who were incredibly patient and supportive throughout. The food was amazing as they served steamboat, English breakfast, and local dishes that kept us well fed throughout the trip.

Great views, great food, and great company. If you’re planning a trip to Sabah, this is one experience you shouldn’t miss. Book it on @seeksophie and use code “HANIMSS10” by @hanimyahman

Six years of my life as a civil servant felt surreal. I always thought I’d explore the private sector first before stepping into government work but life had other plans for me. Along the way, I met some of the most amazing people who shaped me and helped me grow in so many ways. I started this job as someone who survived on coffee and disliked vegetables, now I’m drinking teh o peng and casually eating veggies for lunch.

I began as a research intern, moved on to becoming an Operations Officer and ended this chapter as a Conservation Officer. Looking back, I’m thankful for the opportunity that came my way and I have no regrets. This experience changed the way I see trees, nature and the immense effort that goes into maintaining the curated landscape city we live in.

I may be leaving the organisation, but I’m sure our paths will cross again since I’ll still be working in the environmental sector.

Farewell (for now 👀) by @hanimyahman

A very overdue post but one I’ve been wanting to share for a long time. Late last year, I had the incredible opportunity to fulfil one of my lifelong dreams which was producing a documentary.

I’m deeply grateful to @earthinfocus.co and @_wildspace for believing in me and selecting me to be part of the Media Lab. Being surrounded by such talented and passionate people throughout this journey was something I’ll always cherish. This film would not have been possible without the guidance and support of our mentors @jayaprakash_bojan @ianmun.thebun @candiceodgers @twolefthandssg. Thank you for trusting us and helping bring this story to life.

A huge thank you as well to our interviewees (@thedebbiedeets @swag.cat.sg @eyesofacres) for opening up your stories to us and for the meaningful work you continue to do for Singapore’s nature scene. Hearing your experiences and witnessing your passion was genuinely inspiring. It reminded me why storytelling matters so much and motivated me to continue working hard to share stories that encourage people to care for and protect Mother Nature.

Lastly, thank you to @nikonsg and @camerarentalsingapore for sponsoring the equipment and supporting this project.

Last month, I went behind the scenes with @seeksophiesg to better understand the issue of plastic pollution just across our border. It was an eye opening experience, and I’m so grateful for the people dedicating their time and effort to protecting our environment. If this interests you, be sure to sign up for the activity.
