POSTS STORIES REELS

It’s August 10th, I’m on a high. Just left the dealership with a new car and I’m just happy. I get a call from my mom about what happened with Sheen. In my mind, I’m like alright, he’ll be fine. Once he get out the hospital and he heal up, ima bring him to hoop with me on Saturday mornings like we talked about when I would see him at work. It was no doubt in my mind that somebody so driven and motivated and charismatic and loving and caring and loyal as you were to your family first and all your friends second that you wasn’t about to get a second chance because just wouldn’t seem right that you of all people wouldn’t see all your plans and goals come to fruition. I get another call later…..
Sheen or Sheeny as grandma used to call you, lil cousin we told each other we loved each other when we crossed paths at work and talk about whatever. I never talked to you like you was my little cousin because I saw a man when I spoke to you. You saved your money and bought yourself a car as a teenager, you planned to pay out your own pocket to get your dad a lawyer for an appeal. You took time when you had off on Fridays to go to Jum’ah. One of my proudest moments was seeing you in there. You told me I was your role model, and I used that as motivation to finish grad school and while you was looking up to me, I was admiring everything you were becoming. Whenever I would go visit grandma’s grave site, I would tell her about the progress both you and Roe were making in life. Grandma had a way of making us all feel special and like we was the favorite and I thought I had it locked down lol, but when I went up in that room and talked to her when she was here every time I stopped by, she’d talk all day and night about her Sheeny😂 Sheeny this and Sheeny that. Sheeny going to the league. She saw greatness in you and Roe. And you repaid that by how loving you were toward her and cared for her. Grandma made sure that I kept doing what I was doing so I could continue to be a role model because she told me you were looking. I know you’re still watching so that’s my motivation to keep going. If I was your role model, you were mine as well❤️ I love you and miss you❤️ by @hann_some

They say you have your whole life to write your first album and I couldn’t agree more. If you know me, from the time I was twelve or so, I always said I would drop an album called Cruise Control one day, so to finally see it come to fruition after all these years, it’s truly a dream come true and it’s a surreal moment. It took some time, but we did it Joe lol. We all on God’s timing anyway so it came when it was supposed to according to Him because with all the time it took, it really gave me the opportunity to improve my artistry in finding new melodies, flows, improving my vocals, and just finding my sound which allowed me to put my best foot forward and make a product I’m truly proud to say I wrote every lyric for, came up with every flow, every melody, picked every beat, and so on. I came out of pocket for everything as a truly independent artist. Now for the thank you’s…..
Allah gets the first praise of course for providing me with the means to do everything I had to do to create this body of work.
My parents next. My mom don’t even know she helped start this when brought home that notepad I requested while on summer break in 7th grade. Also, just y’all putting me in good schools throughout my life, it helped spark creativity and learning different things and just an ability to put my words together well and just y’all teaching me the importance of linguistics (my dad being an English teacher back in the day), that foundation makes me able to put my words together with ease.
Fiq - I can’t forget you. You the first one to put me in the studio ever in 8th grade. My first two songs ever in life was recorded in that Bucks County crib.
My brother, Rashad - you had me in the Crown Vic as a 1st, 2nd, and third grader listening to Hov, Beanie Sigel, 50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Trying album, which helped spark a desire to rap.
Jenny - what can I say about you? You was the cover for the first EP and you’ve always helped inspire the music and songs I’ve wrote and always lended ideas and words of encouragement and affirmation throughout the process. I’ll never be able to thank you enough.
MYSELF - You did it! You wrote the songs, you paid that money. You one of THEM🙌🏾 by @hann_some

I went and got my Masters Degree! And I’m going to brag on myself for a quick second before I give out my thank you’s. So let me talk my ish for a second. First off, I graduated with a 3.98 GPA. My lowest grade my whole time in grad school was an A- in one class. So, there’s that! I also worked full time overnight shifts, did an internship during the day so about 65+ hours a week I was putting in, while writing papers and doing projects left and right, and making sure the rent was paid on the 1st EVERY month. While I did that myself, it’s some people that deserve a lot of thanks.
First, let’s start with Allah. Without Him, nothing is possible. Philly eclipsed 500 murders last year and I witnessed two myself which really put things into perspective. I wondered if I’d even make it to graduation honestly, but I did and I am grateful for it and ready to conquer the next chapters with Allah’s blessing.
Mom & Dad - I ain’t gonna lie, I had just graduated with my bachelors and y’all was already asking me, “What’s next?” 5 years ago. Y’all always have pushed me to want more out of life and never be complacent and exceed expectations. Dad, you sent me a text talking about how this gave you peace and mom you cried tears of joy. I’m happy to have been able to bring y’all peace and joy and I love you both for everything you’ve done for me and all the sacrifices.
All my homies - just sending a dm or a text and showing support and love, I appreciate and got love for y’all. Those encouraging words kept me going and helped me keep my eyes on the prize.
Kaycie & Craig - y’all came all the way from Chicago to see me graduate. That type of support is difficult to find. That’s why whenever y’all need me, I’ll hop on that plane like I have before and will continue to do
Grandma - we lost you in 2018, but you were on my mind throughout this whole journey. You always told me, look after the twins and be a role model. Those words resonated with me and also helped me stay the course, so thank you all your love and support throughout this journey. I didn’t forget those talks upstairs in your room on those Summer days I would stop pass❤️ by @hann_some

Bout to start answering the phone like, "New degree, who dis?" Yesterday, I saw all my hard work pay off for 4 years as I graduated and accepted my degree. I'm just a kid from West Philly who's dad put a football in my hand at the age of four and while I used that as a tool to open doors for college, I always was taught by my parents the importance of education and receiving my degree was so surreal and I fulfilled a promise to myself and to my family members. I got nephews watching what I'm doing (Isa and Idris). I got little cousins telling my grandma they look up to me. So, this just isn't for me, this is for them and everybody who believed, especially the two people who raised me, and made so many sacrifices so I could be where I'm at. Those two people are my parents! Couldn't have done it without the foundation they set for me. To Rashad, my brother, I used to watch you when I was a baby till the time I was 6, wanting to do everything you did and dress like you and have braids and everything. So, you setting an example helped me get to where I'm at today as well. To everyone in these pictures, I couldn't get everybody, but I got love for all of y'all, Philly still better than Chicago tho, I had to say it, you know me😂😂but Ima see y'all again the future. I'm just a black kid from Philly where it's easy to get sucked into negativity and go a different route in life and there were nights where I was places I ain't have no business, but Allah saw me through and I stand before you as a College Graduate!👨🏾‍🎓 by @hann_some
