I can’t read what I am saying except „style of opera“ „baroque“ and „poor things“ but that sounds about right. I am so grateful that @marily.efremidi made that happen and to dear @ines_hochgerner for taking my picture in the nick of time (get yourself talented, skilled and darling friends to save the day) Guys, I am not delusional, I know I don’t look like that.

The Vienna-based opera costumier Hannah Oellinger is outraged that the Pantone color of the year is white... "It is sending the worst message imaginable!" Take one look at her transportive creations (ruffles are her Roman Empire) and it's not hard to see why.

Hannah's latest work for L’italiana in Algeri at the Grand Théâtre de Genève may be some of her favourite designs to date. Regard the 22 Papatacci costumes her studio made (which only appeared on stage for 10 minutes) and weep with joy. Because yes, she will always follow the joy.

Karussell @neuestaatsoper coming to an end

Thank you to the people who were part of the costume production, especially @nina.pair with whom working feels like a fun and relaxed pastime.

Johanna & everyone @artforarttheaterservice amongst others for their patience when I waited until dress rehearsal to finally get the beige chantilly right. @lukas_ponyboy who, a life time ago, used to be my first ever assistant? and now knows every fabric from silk to synthetics

Caro & the make-up department for taking such good care of everyone and everything.

Last but not least @emmanuellebredoux (who, judging by her DMs after every fitting, still somehow feels responsible for me); @nadegebourmaud and @colinebruniaux who, more than a year ago, brought all of these costumes to life.

a little exhausted at the end of the season, like butter that has been scraped over too much bread (iykyk)… but doing this production in our home town has been a blast. Today’s final show also marks the closing of the Kammeroper due to budget cuts, which is a big shame and real loss.

some productions just come together light as a feather… I immediately knew what I wanted to do and right from the very beginning, everything just kept getting better, as if it were falling into place.

When I wanted to do face painting of enlarged eyes and the make up department said sorry, not enough time for that, it forced me to change the concept to sunglasses, which was more interesting to play with anyway. When I wanted simple pearl wigs but the head of the costume workshop said: don’t you want to do something more elaborate? I didn’t need to hear more.

All the fantastic people involved in such a process change the course of the costume design, even if only in the details. For me, it is a joy to tag along for the journey.

Thank you @renatevogg for keeping a clear head and restoring my confidence whenever I wondered whether people might end up running out of the theatre. Is this too much? Is this even working? The whole workshop, especially Christina, who is the absolute boss at ruching, and Lukas, who wrestled with every inch of fabric when we simply didn’t have any more to work with - because ruching, my friends, takes up way more fabric than anticipated.

Maria from @artforarttheaterservice who poured so much heart into these fabulous pearl wigs. She just smiled very politely when I asked her how many hours it took to sew all those pearls. (And this was before half the pearls popped during piano dress.)

To @basakdasdan for having my back at rehearsals and having the same attention to details that i enjoy so much (the socks need to match!, the yellow needs to be stronger), no need for a vibe-check here, fellow cat person.
Manu and @sophiarella who make sure everyone is IN their costumes and all the stains are OUT.

The hair and make up department @eschoitsch @ce_lie_ne and @claudia.koppatz for all the wigs wizardry, trials and experiments.

Last but not least, @annabernreitner, who just always rolls with it, even when my ideas are bizarre and the sleeves are almost always too big. by @hannah_oellinger

Liebe, Macht und ein Hauch Magie ✨ In fünf Maskenspielen nach Shakespeares Sommernachtstraum treffen Dichter, Gottheiten und zauberhafte Wesen aufeinander – alles kreist um Titania, die Königin der Feen, und ihre stürmische Beziehung zu Oberon.

Henry Purcells selten gespielte Oper verführt mit schillernder Harmonik, Melodien von überwältigender Schönheit, tänzerischen Rhythmen und herrlich pointierten Textvertonungen.

Die 2021 mit dem Götz-Friedrich-Preis ausgezeichnete Regisseurin Anna Bernreitner kehrt nach ihrer erfolgreichen Produktion von Die Liebe zu den drei Orangen nach St. Gallen zurück.
