Last week I opened up questions on what you’d like to see here on this page in regards to homeschool! I’ll do my best to work through them all!

I think the best place to start is - WHERE TO START!

Here’s my top 4 places to start if you are exploring homeschooling for your family.

Step 1️⃣check your states requirements around homeschooling. Every state is different. HSLDA.org is where you need to go to find your state and click the link. It should take you to all the info you need to homeschool in your state.

Step 2️⃣ Start researching homeschool styles. From Unschooling to Classical, Montessori and Charlotte Mason, there are so many “styles” of homeschooling. Take some time to read through them all and see if one resonates with you and your child(ren). But don’t worry too much about this, you can learn on the go and remember you don’t have to fit into one box 😉

Step 3️⃣ Once you have an idea of your style 😎 you can start researching curriculum. Again this is such a personal choice for families so don’t feel pressured to pick one over the other, be free to mix and match, buy an open and go, or do your own thing! The biggest key here is to find what works for YOU and your child! Homeschooling is freeing so don’t get caught in a trap of overwhelmed and anxiety ridden decisions.

Step 4️⃣ And my favorite step. 🥰Find your tribe. Whether it’s a co op, a park group, a few friends that homeschool in your area, or friends you find on social media, connect with those mamas. It really is a community and I promise you will find them. Reach out to a veteran homeschool mom and ask her for advice and encouragement. Get together with a few other first time moms and brainstorm how to be there for each other. The best part will be to see how quickly these people will show up for you, pray for you, help you and guide you along your journey. 💞

I hope this helps any first time homeschool moms or those who have considered it but just felt too overwhelmed with where to start. Please like, save and share if this was helpful. 🥰

Elk Hunt 2026.

This hunt was hard on us physically and mentally. It’s the first time I’ve drawn a rifle elk hunt which at first we were SO excited about. We quickly realized we couldn’t find childcare and there was almost a moment we didn’t even go because of it. Hunting elk in the wilderness on foot is hard- almost impossible with little feet.

I’m not gonna sugar coat it, these pictures look pretty but there were lots of tears, more times I lost my patience than I care to admit, and disappointment when we found a bull but couldn’t get to him because of our limitations….

BUT with all that said, I couldn’t be more proud of us and our kids. I don’t know many people that would pack in 4 kids like we did. They sure did wake up at 4:30 every morning, put on 3 layers of clothes, hiked out in the cold and dark, put over 9 miles on foot (the little one on my back), tried their best to be quiet, looked for signs, practiced their bugles, and I hope made memories they’ll remember forever.

As much as I wanted to be selfish and go without them, there are some lessons you’ll only learn on the mountain and I’m proud of us for taking them and teaching them this. We really did give it an honest try.

It may be hard now but imagine what kind of crew we’ll have when they’re older! And I pray they’ll want to take us when we’re old and the ones slowing them down 🥹❤️

We didn’t come home with a bull, but we always come home with a new perspective, lessons learned, and always in awe and honor of God’s beautiful country and animals.

Thank you God for giving us this life and these opportunities!

This is a story about how life moves really fast the older you get and the more kids you have 🤪 and before you know it, you look down and your baby is 4 and you just haven’t made time to dedicate that precious miracle back to the Lord.

And so in true Burlbaw fashion, we drove over the creek we baptized one of our daughters, in one of our favorite places in the world, out chasing elk, and decided now was the best time. With me decked out in camo and him with his teddy and tiger football jammies because we know Jesus would say - come as you are. ❤️

Just Jesus, our family, the wilderness and hearts choosing Him and thanking Him for all our blessings.

We know he was always His before he was ours, and our prayer is that he walks with Jesus all the days of his life.

She’s been singing Butterfly Season and playing along on her ukulele. 🦋🎶 This girl loves a stage and singing every day, but I shouldn’t be surprised, I sang to her since she was in my tummy 🥹

@ellalangleymusic @mirandalambert you’re inspiring the next generation, one little country girl at a time. 🥹

I’m raising a strong minded daughter.

She questions everything, challenges every limit, feels things deeply and carries enough energy for the both of us. Some days, I’ll admit, it can leave me completely exhausted.

But she isn’t “too much”, and she isn’t difficult. She’s confident and unafraid, courageous and already learning to trust her own voice. So, on the hardest days, I remind myself, I’m not here to dim her fire…I’m here to help her use it.

Because one day, the world will need a woman like her. by @hannahburlbaw

Years and years and years ago, my dad would take me to a little thing called 4-H Horse School every year. One year he decided it would be a great idea for us to lead a workshop and teach all those kids how to tie their own horse halter. 😵‍💫

I wonder how many horse halters we made that week 🤪 and I’m pretty sure I was sick of em by the end 😂

My girl got to learn the trade this weekend and helped him make one for his colts he’s selling next weekend. Couldn’t help but smile watching him teach her - he was always so patient (I mean he was a 4-H county agent for all of my childhood.)

He helped raise a lot of kids in those barns over the years. The tradition continues…just like he taught me ❤️ by @hannahburlbaw

It’s ok mama you’re still sparkly and magical 😆🤘🏻 you got this by @hannahburlbaw

For so long, I felt like I had to constantly “show up”. Post, perform, create, share, keep up, and be present for everyone on the internet. In reality that was what was paying the bills and I was grateful for it in the season we needed it.

And honestly, building a business with my husband has given me something I didn’t even realize I was craving: the freedom to step back.

I get to spend more of my days becoming the woman, wife, and mother I’ve always wanted to be. Homeschooling my kids. Loving my husband. Making real food. Raising chickens. Being home. Building a life that feels good to actually live, not just one that looks good online.

I still love social media. I just don’t want my life to happen for social media anymore.

Maybe the most “kinda chic” thing of all is realizing you don’t have to perform your life to prove it’s a good one. 🤍 by @hannahburlbaw

17 years ago this November, @sb_archery proposed in front of the Natural Bridge in Virginia.

When we looked at the route home we saw it was only 2 hours out of the way so of course we had to stop and bring our 4 kids here to see it. All because two people fell in love 🥹🫶

Virginia is for lovers ❤️ by @hannahburlbaw

If you would have told me even 2 years ago we would get to do this for “work” I would have laughed.

Now we’re traveling all over the country with our family, getting to see some of our Air Force friends and showing our children this beautiful country God created.

Thank you God for this beautiful life. by @hannahburlbaw

When my kids ask me who they are named after I have a story for each of them 🥹🫶

It was one of my most favorite parts of naming our children…combing through family trees and looking for names. I always felt it would be such an honor to give them a name that held memories and love.

I was privileged enough to meet all of these people, even if for a brief time. Now to collect stories and more pictures for each of them to have someday. by @hannahburlbaw
