It’s been quiet. Every political post isn’t flooded with hate. There are people who delight in seeing us going back and forth at each other. A nation divided isn’t a nation that is moving forward. Who benefits if we are fighting each other online all day long? Good work President Zelenskyy. by @hannahdrake628

Today I visited the Mary S. Harrell Black Heritage Museum . Yall know I’m always gonna hunt out the Black History Museum anywhere I go which is why I am so thankful our city invested in Roots101: African American Museum. It’s a no brainer. People will always go see a Black History Museum.

At the museum they had a shotgun house set up like it would have been back in the day. I thought it would be neat to take pics and see if the house reminded people of their home or grandparents home back in the day. It was a shot gun home like the homes in Smoketown and the tour guide who was 70 said when he was kid all the food came in a bag just like how they had hanging in the kitchen. Do any of the items look familiar? by @hannahdrake628

The Atlantic Center for the Arts is incredibly beautiful. This space looks like it could be in South America. It has been raining and raining and raining some more. This is one of the first days with no rain. Everything looks beautiful! Some people have seen turtles and deers. I’ve only seen a few anoles I believe. I hear birds but don’t see many. I think it’s because of the dense trees. The ones I’ve seen are small and quite colorful. I haven’t seen the spiders and don’t need to. I saw a few bugs and liked to pass out lol. by @hannahdrake628

The trees met me here
Called me here
Spoke to me here
They always seem to find me
I could feel them the moment I placed my feet here
The Spanish moss lingered amongst the trees bringing back a memory of trees I saw before in the Low Country
I knew it happened there and the trees were telling me it happened here too
We find ourselves on the land that was once a part of a 300 acre private plantation
Who was here before we were here?
The Timucua people who lived on and cared for this land long before us.
100 enslaved Africans who cleared the land
1400 Mediterranean indentured servants brought here to work on plantations
Cotton, Sugar, Indigo
Over half of them died
The land is beautiful but brutal
It remembers
The ground remembers
Bones beneath our feet
The trees call us to bear witness
And remember… by @hannahdrake628

I am giving myself permission to be fully present in this moment. The world will still be there. The politics will still be there. The noise, the anger, the division, and the endless cycle of things demanding our attention will still be there. But for this month, I am choosing to make room for something else.

I am here to pour into others, but I am also here to be poured into. I want to sit and look at the trees. I want to sit near the water and notice what what nature is trying to tell me. Sometimes we need to just sit and be still and listen. I feel like the past and present have met us here. All of us. To share this moment together.

There is important work to be done in this world especially at this time. But for this moment, I am allowing myself to step away from the noise and simply be where my feet are.

See you all in November! ❤️ by @hannahdrake628

By “public relations problem” Trump means he can’t freely lie to the American people anymore because we are living through the truth. And the truth is a nightmare. He doesn’t want to make your life better he just wants to lie better. by @hannahdrake628
