It’s been 5 years. About 5 years and 3 months to be exact - sitting in a hospital room, sinking, or drowning is actually more what it felt like.

If you are lucky enough to be spared from the 1 in every 5 people that struggle with mental illness, let me just tell you :
It is an attack on every part of your being – your physical body, your mental stability your emotions, your incoming thoughts, your relationships - and yet it remains an intangible illness that many struggle to truly see. When it attacks, it invades every minute of every day. It robs you of every joy or perceived good in your life at that moment. That is where this part of my story began.

But God. 🙌🏻 That’s not where my story ended.

God doesn’t belittle or question your pain and what you’re going through. He has never written you off as being dramatic or over exaggerating. He actually tells us that He keeps record of every tear and hurts right along with us. And the beauty of it all is that He never leaves. He continues to sit in that place with us, reminding us of promise after promise - that He is our Rescuer, our Deliverer, that He longs to be our shield and fight on our behalf.

If this is a place you’re in, I would love to advocate for you. To sit and listen to your story. There is nothing about this battle that should make you feel ashamed or alone.

So here’s to more awareness, more open conversation and less shame. You were never meant to walk alone, then or now❤️ #mentalhealthawarenessmonth by @hannahhild

Rain held off just long enough for a date with my sweet boy. It included pigs. Obviously pigs 🥰
