2016 I brought home 2 kittens. We had heard from a friend that the local vet had a litter of dumpster cats, and us being us we went to go see them. A week later I surprised David by picking them up early and bringing Moose Lee & Spike Lee home.

Spike ate breakfast with David every morning and snuggled next me under the covers every night. We’d walk around the house having conversations with him, while he answered us back. He’d come running when we came home with a meow and a flop on the floor to roll around.

Did I think Friday I’d have to say goodbye to Spike, I certainly didn’t want to. At 9.5 he had tumors that spread to his lungs and his breathing was getting worse. Losing weight and sleeping all the time wasn’t him. That fat cat loved to eat and sleep, but not like this. He wasn’t a crusty old cat yet.

The house is quiet & we miss him so much. Never in my life did I think I would be a cat person, but damn him, did he latch on to me. We are absolutely heart broken, so hug your animals tight just because. 💔 by @hannahmfranchi
