The best word I have to describe my seminary experience is “deeper”

Deeper faith
Deeper knowledge
Deeper trust
Deeper reverence
Deeper thinking
Deeper understanding of the gospel

When I first started, someone said “you’ll come out of seminary with more questions than you came in with” and it couldn’t be more true. Yet at the same time I feel less threatened by unanswered questions and more willing to engage and navigate the unknowns. Praising God for the chance to learn in this way!

For the past five months I’ve wrestled though trusting God when his answer to saving Scottie earthside was “no”. And then it felt like Jesus looked me in the eye this morning at church, while going through a passage that has brought some of that wrestling, and said “God said no to me too”.

This Easter the gospel is coming alive in a new way to me. When it feels like everyone else is getting their “yes” from God and I am tempted to believe he loves them more, I look at his only son and the “yes” he withheld from him for my own sake. His “no” to Jesus was the best thing that ever happened to me.
