This Father’s Day is extra special because my dad is alive to celebrate it! 3 weeks ago my family received the most precious gift, a heart transplant! I am endlessly proud of my dad’s resilience. The past 2 years have been filled with so many hospital stays, conversations with doctors, and moments where we truly didn’t think he’d make it to today. His strength and pure will to live has been an honor to witness. I’m also thankful for my mom as I’m quite sure without her unwavering support and advocacy, my dad wouldn’t be alive. She’s superwoman and she’s pretty much single handedly carried our family through the trenches. They both have set an incredible example for us on what it means to show up for each other and to keep going no matter what.

I’m also so grateful to God, the miracle of modern medicine, and most importantly the donor and their family. What was truly the greatest gift for my family, came at a profound loss for someone else’s and I hope one day I can express to them how much that means ❤️ happy Father’s Day! by @hannahxhunter_
