What does it mean to be In-between?Between cultures and languages, and the fluid, in-between spaces where identity resists easy definition. Haolin's own sense of belonging has long existed in that threshold, and this immersive exhibition translates that feeling into something you can hear, see, and feel. They tell us: 'The community that I feel belonging to exists in the in-between: in-between the cultural, also in-between languages. That in-between space is what I want to create'@haolinhuang0716 is one of the winners of ‘Shooting Stars’, a platform for emerging photographers, presented by @differentclass.be together with @fujifilmbelgium. Their work was already presented at Sound of the Belgian Underground, and in the past months, they got the opportunity to use the @fujifilmbelgium X-S20 camera.Manifesto of the In-between by @haolinhuang0716 runs until 30.05.2026 at @gc_pianofabriek in Brussels. À travers la question philosophique « Le papillon se souvient-il des souvenirs de la chenille ? », j’explorais le passage du temps et la métamorphose.En réagissant à des objets symboliques et en recréant mon rêve d’enfance sisyphéen, je suis revenu de mon alter ego, Elpis, à mon prénom d’origine, 皓霖 (Haolin), signifiant « la pleine lune dans la forêt pluvieuse ».Aujourd’hui, ma recherche se concentre sur un espace et un temps spécifique : la chambre d'enfance, un huis clos où le corps présent dialogue avec le corps du passé. À travers des dialogues avec des jouets abandonnés par des enfants locaux qui veulent grandir, j’échange les enfances : la mienne, silencieuse, et la leur, en devenir. 𝐇𝐚𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐠 is a multidisciplinary Chinese artist based in Brussels, working across photography, video, performance, theatre, sculpture, and digital media.During their residency, Haolin Huang will investigate early experiences where dream, reality, and imagination coexist, mapping objects through their names, age, history, colour, and origin. By collecting and playing with objects abandoned by or exchanged with local children, they explore how personal and collective memories circulate, and intertwine with identity, displacement, and belonging.𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦 is an ongoing research exploring memory as a lived, embodied space. Rather than reconstructing the past, the project examines how childhood persists within the body as sensation, rhythm, and spatial memory. Knock knock knock (working title)02/02/26 at @theatredelavie1210 Invited by @nicky_lapierre @halles.be during LundynamiteBefore graduation, I’ve manifested to present my work as a maker in a black box! What a pleasure to arrive first step this year. Thanks for this showcase, i could present part of my research about home and time on stage. Shooting Stars at SOBU2026Together with @fujifilmbelgium, @differentclass.be presents ‘Shooting Stars’, a platform for emerging photographers. From nearly 200 submissions, @haolinhuang0716, @lea.konstantinou, and @miloweiler were selected to show their version of ‘After Midnight’: the quiet, chaotic, poetic moments when the city slows, and creativity awakens. Their work was presented at Sound of the Belgian Underground, and over the coming year, they will also be commissioned by @fujifilmbelgium and @differentclass.be.
