Basement Session

me and my mates found this basement gym a while back in December and wanted to try an alternative version of ‘Between’

It took a while cos we were doing everything ourselves and it was SO SO cold - we were lit all taking turns by the little heater just to keep out hands warm - had like 5 jumpers on.

But in the end we got something we were happy with.

Hope you like it - gonna be putting out more live sesh’ soonish

Yes friends- I’m playing at the @londondrumshow ! 12.30pm on the Saturday, I’m going to be repping some of the new @ajax_drums and @zyncymbals , playing some songs from artists I’ve been lucky enough to work with over the last few years, and potentially answering a few questions about some concepts I’ve worked on quite a lot over these last few years, as well as playing the drums for a living and all the insanity it involves Thanks deeply to @bencebolygo & @rubixdrums for putting me on in their experience roomCome through come through🥁💃💪 📸📸@jamesdrewturner #drums #drummer #drumkit #musician #drumkit by @hapdrums

Tekkers PT2- drum solo.

This one’s a hard one, (for me anyway) ngl.

The solo section is 4 times round 7-6-6-6, 7-6-6-6-6, 7-6-6-6, 7-6-6-6-6-6-6. Or 4 times round a cycle of 124. Whichever.

Anyway, it’s tricky.

So the way I tackled it was practicing some 3s, 4s and 5s across the cycle, feeling the resolution points until it felt natural. Then the next thing was to play the groupings on kick and snare while the right hand played those same groupings. After that it was then a case of treating the 6s as dotted crotchets, so it almost felt like the 7 was a slightly elongated beat 1 in a bar of 4/4.

Also I left my studio fan on so if it hasn’t been successfully EQed out I can only humbly apologise.

Keep shedding!

I’ve been having some thoughts about some terminology, and how we think about playing music as an individual, spanning different genres. Here they are. Watch the video, read the words, have a think. HAP #music #musician #beats #drummer #ronniescotts by @hapdrums
