My heart broke into a million pieces the moment his stopped beating but I’m slowly trying to piece it back together. Almost 13 years of tangible moments instantly turned back to stardust, back to how it all started, yet everything is different now. He truly was sent from the stars above and taught me so much about life, unconditional love and now, the weight of grief.

In the quiet moments when grief starts to creep in and tears blur the lines of this new altered reality, I try to remind myself that grief is an expression of love and the beautiful thing about love is that it transcends death. Love transcends death and remembering that, he will live on forever. Bentley, my best friend, my soulmate and my absolute heart dog, you’re a part of me forever and I will love you until the end of time. We are officially homeowners!!🥹🔑
We closed on 10/10 and 2 months later things still feel surreal. You know that feeling of being homesick for a place you’ve never been and when you finally arrive, everything feels familiar!? It’s like we dreamed this place into existence and it’s everything we have needed and more. Spending my entire 30s living on the road is something that has honestly changed my life, changed my perspective and just simply given me a whole new appreciation for all that is and all that will be. This life is a gift that I’m forever grateful for and I can’t wait to see what kind of adventures are in store for me next! Prior to hitting the road in 2018, I spent a decade working in mental health. Next to nature, travel and photography, mental health and well being has always been a true passion of mine. I devoted my life to my career and my clients and it became a huge piece of my identity... but, as time went on, it started taking a toll on me- burnout started creeping in and I just needed a break.⁣
⁣
I pushed my degrees to the side and we bought a travel trailer and hit the road! For the first time in my life I experienced ultimate freedom... letting myself be completely free from the identity of my education and my career and let me tell you, it’s been ✨freaking✨ fabulous!!! I’ve been able to truly slow down and just simply BE... something I struggled with prior to life on the road. Well, nearly 4 years have passed now and I’ve been feeling a huuuuuge gravitational pull back to the professional world of mental health.⁣
⁣
I couldn’t be more proud and excited to say I’m dusting off my master’s degree and going back into the field!! I accepted a full-time remote position on the crisis response team at @cerebral, a fully remote mental health organization offering me the freedom and flexibility to work from anywhere while helping change the face of mental health by eliminating some of the barriers to receiving care, ending the stigma surrounding mental health and just making services more affordable and accessible to everyone... including nomads on the road!! ⁣

I hope this serves as a reminder that your career doesn’t define you and it’s totally ok to change career paths at any time.... to put your degree on hold and just give yourself a break if that’s what you need!!! That degree will be waiting for you when you’re ready to come back.. and if you never use it again, that’s ok too!! At one point, I wasn’t sure if I’d ever go back into mental health but I gave myself the time I needed to rest and reset and I couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter!! 10 years ago today I fell in love with the sweetest soul in existence. I remember that day like it was yesterday and yet here we are... a whole decade later, halfway across the country and even more in love than we were 3,650 days ago. Today marks 3 years of living in our little home on wheels. Life on the road definitely makes time move different but 3 years already!??🤯🙈⁣

I can’t say it’s been all rainbows and butterflies but it’s been real and real life isn’t perfect.. it’s messy and it’s beautiful and it’s mixed with those random miraculous moments hidden between the ordinary moments that take your breath away. Those moments that make you fall to your knees and thank every star in the sky that this is your life... that’s what life is about, what RV life is about! Happy 10th Birthday to my best friend in the entire world, Bentley. To be honest, I’ve always dreaded this day and just wanted to rewind to his younger years... every internet search will tell you an English bulldog’s lifespan is 8-10 and it’s just not something I wanted to think about but now that this day is here, I’m just filled with sooo much gratitude... he didn’t just make it to 10, he fought with his entire being and beat all odds to get here and you better believe we are celebrating!! This little boy knows how to live life to the absolute fullest and not give up despite hard times. Life may look a little different for him with megaesophagus but he’s not letting that stop him from doing the things he loves... like chasing his bowling ball around the desert! There’s not a day that goes by that I’m not thanking every star in the sky that he is still here, for however much longer that may be. I love you more than anything my sweet Bentley boy... Happy Birthday!!🥰🎉
