Apparently some of Midway’s 5 inch shells could use radio proximity fuzes, fired from 22 foot barrels, that detected when they were close to an aircraft and detonated nearby instead of needing a direct hit.

I was talking to Donny, our Navajo tour guide. He has minimal running water, no electricity, didn’t get a chance to go to high school because the nearest one was 80 minutes from him and now can’t make much money because he hasn’t developed a lot of practical skills.

Yet he had an excitement for life that you don’t see amongst everyone. He asked me a bunch of questions about photography and how many siblings I have.

He was a real one by @happybrowndude
