POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Passion, purpose, and community—moments like these remind me why I do what I do. Standing alongside incredible creatives, sharing stories, and seeing the energy in every conversation. Get that book finished then enjoy the long term vision of keeping it alive. 8 years of research and everything else getting in the way but the story of Corpo Seco has to be told.
If you want it and respect it you will do it no matter how long it takes you.

We still have access to stillness
Still have access to quiet
Still have access to self
Make sure you remember to honour it and it will work wonders for you

I didn’t know this history existed.
When I began researching #corposeco I knew about the movement of Black people from North America &Caribbean to West Africa.

But I knew far less about the Brazilians who returned to Ghana
The more I researched the more I realised how many different journeys are contained within what we call the African Diaspora.

Different histories different movements Different relationships with the places people returned to.

The discovery became one of the foundations of Corpo Seco

What histories of return have we not heard enough about?

History is more complicated and more connected than the version we first learn.

Sierra Leone, this is your sign to WRITE. ✍🏿🇸🇱

PEN Sierra Leone is heading into schools soon to find the next generation of young writers. So if you’ve got a story in your head, a character who won’t leave you alone, a memory you want to turn into something, or a whole world waiting to be written…

START WRITING.

Don’t worry about whether it’s “good enough.” Don’t wait until you know exactly what you’re doing.

Just write your story.

PEN Sierra Leone is coming to schools soon. And I want to know what stories you’ve got to tell.

Who knows? Yours might be the one they’re looking for. 👀✍🏿
****Pen Sierra Leone are in Thomas street not Campbell st****

There is something magical about being ina room where black writers are not the exception.

A day of conversations creativity connection laughter and ideas. A reminder that writing isn’t just about the page. It’s about community memory culture and the worlds we build around our work.

Grateful for the Black writers Guild @blackwritersguild the writers publishers podcasters journalists I met and the joy I had of being in the room.
