a (late) happy birthday post to my best friend in the world, jacki van tuyle. this girl means the world to me in so many ways. she's talented, smart, beautiful, kind, generous, and everything in between. she makes me laugh like nobody else. nobody else understands me quite like she does. i love this girl and i can't say it enough by @happytoheather

last friday afternoon, i unexpectedly and tragically had to say goodbye to my dearest clementine. she was my cat, and she was my best friend.

i brought her into this world as a baby, and have raised her ever since. she's always been my baby - always wanting my attention, climbing all over me, wanting me to hold her, her wanting to push her face into mine. she'd wait for me at the top of the stairs when i came home and excitedly run to my bedroom, and if i didn't come up right away, she'd come down and yell at me. we would have full blown conversations. she'd talk, and i'd talk, then she'd talk, etc. she was just such a personality. she had so many peculiarities that only i understood about her. to hold her after a long day was to be loved.

i never thought it would ever end like this.

she was only three years old.

last night, i traveled all the way from detroit to chicago to share in the rare privilege of seeing my icon, my inspiration, the incredibly talented and ever-beautiful cindy lee. it was something i thought would never happen, yet standing before her in the flesh was as if witnessing an angel appear out of thin air. an experience so cathartic it makes my heart sing.

Today was my last day working for the Toledo Lucas County library. This job has meant the world to me. Through my amazing coworkers and the countless patrons that I served each and every day, this job has given me so much passion, joy, energy - and so, so much love in my heart.

To everyone who saw the potential in me and gave me the tools to go places I never imagined I could. It's really changed my life. I can't express how grateful I am that I was able to be a part of something so incredible. So long, Reynolds Corners <3 by @happytoheather
