Our marriage turned 21 this week. It's a full grown adult and has raised three amazing and beautiful souls. Through the ups and downs, the loves and losses, I've had my best friend by my side through all of it. Forever is not nearly long enough to be loved by this man. We spent the whole day together, enjoying Yachats, OR

Had a smashing time with family today. For years I've created a scavenger hunt for my three little chickadees, but then there were a few years with our two boys, missing our 3rd egg. This year, I take great joy in once again adding a 3rd egg to our little nest...Eli's sweet girlfriend joined us and played along with the fun.

There's something so soothing to the soul when nature echoes the soul's condition. Chaotic and turbulent as it stirs up the depths. Crashing as it embraces its reality. The ocean does not always churn so, but for today it's allowed to give full vent to its raw power.

When TMS begins to create new neural pathways in the frontal lobe, there's a lot of communication that begins to happen. For someone who already has a loud, busy brain, this can become overwhelming. Some of the voices are healthy and even stand up against the bully voices, and that can feel nice. Some conversations, though, go a lot like, "Oh, hey, remember that thing you've been trying to forget for like, 20 years? Don't worry, I prepared a power point presentation. I'll play it on repeat now. Aaaand if you try to turn it off, I'll just play it while you're sleeping." Sooooo, all the work I've done to just shove it all down and compress it into dark humor is coming back to bite me in the brain big time. Something about being around water in nature quiets all of the voices and gives me a second to just be. I grew up a feral child in the woods with my 3 brothers. Those were good days, full of laughter, freedom, and friendship. Going back to the woods takes me right back to those sweet days.

The plus side was also that all 3 of my guys were here with me today. We went Lego exploring, got a Super Nintendo game for my birthday, and watched some Harry Potter. I did have a few dips in mood bc I lost my focus halfway through the day, but the results aren't supposed to stick until about the 4th week. I woke up this morning after 9!!!!!!!! hours of sleep. (I've been averaging 3-6), and I felt a true happiness inside of me. Now, I'm no stranger to tears bc weeping has become a clingy new friend, but I was overwhelmed by the happiness I felt and cried happy tears. Maybe one day, the tears will dry up, but for now, I'll certainly take the happy ones.
2 weeks down, 6 to go.

Starting to document my TMS journey here. TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a non-medication therapy for depression. I also go for PTSD treatment. After twenty long years of fighting my own brain and suffering as it slowly shut me off from being able to access healthy neural communication across my frontal lobe, I reached a point where I couldn't see any good reason to be here. I know, that's really revealing for a social media platform. But it might also help someone who has been struggling without hope. And yes! I do love Jesus, and Jesus loves me, but the world has been a harsh place for me to live. Abandonment, abuse, and so many losses caused my brain to create shortcuts to predict trauma, even from low impact stress. Basically, my brain sends me danger signals no matter where I am or what I'm doing. I'm a week into treatment, so there's not much to document, but I've responded well to the first week. I will continue to post as I begin to heal. Hopefully, someone who needs help after pursuing medication and finding only more despair can find this journey and begin their own. I'm an open book, so if that person is you, please, ask whatever questions you might have about treatment. ❤️ by @happytrees522
