STUDIO SPOTLIGHT: LÁZARO & CÉSAR SAAVEDRA NANDE
In this section of Studio Spotlight, we take a closer look at the work of the duo Lázaro & César Saavedra Nande.

About their practice, the artists have stated:
“Our work as artists focuses on action as a means of expression. We aim to provoke deep reflection in the viewer, inviting them to actively participate in the construction of meaning. Through actions that address crucial issues in our context—such as demographic decline, censorship, and institutional criticism—we seek to challenge established norms and promote open dialogue. By breaking with the traditional dynamic of ‘look and do not touch’ in exhibition spaces, we intend for the public to engage with our artistic proposals in a visceral way, building their own interpretations and generating new questions. Our goal is never to impose a single reading, but rather to offer a starting point for each individual to explore the complexities of the world around us.”

Thank you to artist César Saavedra Nande for sharing these reflections, and to him and his brother, artist Lázaro Saavedra Nande, for their collaboration over the years. It has been a pleasure to support and be part of these remarkable projects.

As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we’re sharing memories and testimonies from the artists, curators, and collaborators who have been part of this journey.
