Chronic Illness 27 premieres 'Invert Balcony' short film by Piotr Bockowski, presented in a form of multichannel video installation with expanded cinema experience of the immersive theatre

Script by Piotr Bockowski is based on the second scene from #jeangenet play 'Balcony' and #kathyacker minidrama 'Egypt, the End'

"A night at Genet’s dungeon. The judge interrogates a prostitute, who plays the role of a thief for him in order to fetishise the position of power that he has already lost. As the bodyguard assists in interrogation, they find stolen objects hidden under her skirt. The interrogation is disturbed by the noise from the sewer. Sadomasochistic dialectic of the interrogation reveals dependency of judge’s power on the imaginary act of thief’s transgression. To secure his privilege, the judge has to crawl and lick her feet. His power is established by role-play of corporeal debasement.

Following Genet’s promise of freedom through enslavement, Acker’s alter ego Janey imprisons herself at the dungeon, where she is forced to clean his sewage dirt. Genet intimidates her for being a woman, beyond his sadomasochistic role playing. He decides to abandon her and leave, but she remains trapped.

Invert of the sewer reveals the longing for escape. Caged Genet repeats silenced Acker’s plea for discharge addressed towards the dirty hole. by @hardlyxhuman
