For over 40 years we have built timber frames for homes, additions, barns, studios, stores, restaurants and other public buildings.

It may not be huge but these intimate spaces mixed with the simple elegance of Timbers can really create a space you want to be in. Especially when you can look out through a timber porch to a beautiful backdrop while enjoying a cup of tea.

As the summer winds down it’s fun to look back at this project we did at Walden Pond in Concord Massachusetts. Such a treat to work on a building that will be used by so many and we love how it came out with the living roof. Designed by @maryannthompsonarchitects and contracted by @southcoastimprovement . They were both wonderful to work with on this one.

Not sure if I am more impressed with the hydrangeas or the new pergola but either way I do think they compliment each other well. We have worked with the folks over at the American Heritage Musuem for awhile now and it was fun to get back over to replace a pergola they had. The trick was preserving the wisteria trunks that had grown into the previous one. The install went smoothly and I am sure this will be surrounded by beautiful growth next season.

Tucked in a historic property in NH this hemlock barn with a custom stain will host beautiful weddings and functions for years to come. Big sling brace trusses give a grand vaulted space to dance and revel in. This one was quite a fun raising to be on!

Tucked against a salt water marsh this new home will have sweeping views from the first floor. The angled nature of it, a prow front, hammer beam trusses, some valley dormers, this building has a bit of everything. Hemlock timbers from New England create the core of this home.

You just have to trust the process. As much as I love a natural pine barn, the clients wanted to paint it red, and I have to say, it looks sharp. This was a fun one to work on as it’s a wood shop now and that obviously resonates with us. We are really loving the covered entry too. Just a little detail that makes a big impact.

The design of this pavilion at the Hampshire Regional YMCA was rooted in a need for an open unencumbered space while adhering to strict budgets. A blend of structural steel post bases, glulam Timbers and large angled posts accomplished all the goals for this project. We had a wonderful time working with @keitercorporation on this one. Thanks to our Director of Design Taylor for these photos.

A custom horticultural barn is the centerpiece of this Wayland project — a beautiful addition to an earlier whole home remodel. A collaboration with @hardwickpostandbeam

Flanking it, a @hartley_botanic glasshouse — hand-built in England and glazed to let the light do the work — extends the growing season and turns the garden into a year-round room.

An NEDC Custom Horticultural Barn in Wayland

This horticultural barn and glasshouse were an additional phase after we completed a whole-home remodel for a much-loved client.

We partnered with @hardwickpostandbeam on the barn. It’s a piece of simply beautiful craftsmanship.

The glasshouse is hand-made in England by @hartley_botanic The best in the world.

The simple beauty of design build.

Eastern white pine, black tie rods, vaulted spaces. This is a lovely new house going up in Concord MA. The team put this up in about 8 hours! Thanks to Dickinson Architects for the great design.

This green house @quonniefarms is ringing in spring with some lovely growth. A pine frame gives a robust structure to the space as automatic vents at the peak keep the space at the right temperature and moisture level. Years later the frame is still holding up great!

It’s always fun to be able to fly big assemblies into place. Not only does it allow you to do more on the ground which is safer and quicker, it also looks really neat to see this monitor drop into place. This is from a build in Massachusetts.
