These Mizuno shoes were highly suspicious to the security here at London's Heathrow Airport. Each leg below the knee to my ankle had to be inspected/patted down, each shoe removed, insoles removed, and sent through the baggage scanning machine.
Also we already lost one phone charging cord, and forgot our power adapter for Italy and Greece nights, plus our 1 night in London before heading home. This has been a wild day 😆

I got almost 3 hours of sleep last night on the flight. by @harmonyonthego247

We're off to London, then to Rome by tomorrow evening!
Our aircraft changed on us and we lost our long awaited Upper Class (business class ) seats 🙄. They put us in Premium Economy, gave us Delta Sky Club lounge access and our compensation for the aircraft change is two vouchers for round trip Upper Class to anywhere Virgin Atlantic flies on the planet! We'll take this minor inconvenience for another epic adventure abroad! Cheers to starting our 20th Anniversary trip! by @harmonyonthego247

The last project car my dad owned was a '68 Dodge A100 Van. I found this video while combining through his social media posts, looking for videos and pics of my uncle for his Celebration of Life. I love unearthing things like this, and I love hearing my father's voice! He loved a loud engine, that's for sure.

My beautiful girl and I went for a fall run today. Our first in several weeks! Happy to have lower temps for her to join me. My first run back since my half marathon in September, followed by a cold and some travel. It wiped me out! Once November rolls around I am looking forward to officially start training for my next marathon (@everywomansmarathon ), and having Maggie, my little coach join me for many many miles. This training season i thinl we'll hit the 1,000th mile mark of running together. Post run zooming, breakfast, followed by a nice bath and a blow dry. She's a good girl and my littlest best friend!

💙🏁🚗Following my Daddy's death in 2024, the Challenger predominantly sat for the 2 years before making it's way to me. While not a long time, in it's 52 years of machine life, I suspect that was the longest it ever went without regular drives. If you know classic cars, you know they were meant to be experienced by driving and not sitting in a garage on display. I knew the car was due for annual oil change, and the coolant to be changed, and the mufflers had a blow out at some point after arriving here. The car felt "off" for reasons I couldn't understand. Beyond what the human brain and heart can begin to comprehend, I was connected with Don, a mechanic to work on my Daddy's '74 Challenger. Don discovered a carburetor leak, along with a few other things in addition to the coolant replaced and oil changed. The car drives and responds like I remember it, back before my Dad died. I am so elated to have made this connection, and I believe my Dad would be so pleased! I'll have to share the story another time. For now, it's sitting in my heart, a treasure, like my Dad his memory and his car 💙
Thank you @autodiagnosticslouisville for your work on the Challenger!

Folks back home and even here in Louisville ask why Steven and I don't go back to Oregon together more often. The fact of the matter is it boils down to cost. When we leave our home here in Louisville, we're looking at paying a house sitter or having to board both pets ($50/day for the dog, $30-50/day for the cat), parking at the airport at $10-15/day, airfare, meals, etc for the both of us. Sometimes a rental car, and we may even need two cars because my family is all over PDX to Olympia WA, his is PDX on south into California. One trip home quickly turns into several thousand dollars just to go home for one week at a time. As someone who works in travel, I can tell you it's more affordable in a lot of cases to leave the country for a week than it is to go to Oregon. It is challenging to repeatedly justify limited vacation time (i don't get PTO, while he does), and the cost to make it home more than once a year. While I'd love to go home twice a year, for holidays and other fun times, I also know it's not realistic for us. It's an unfun position to be placed in, to constantly feel guilt for not always going home and spending our vacation funds and vacation time going home to familyand friends. It's not a problem I'd honestly wish for anyone. It causes a significant amount of heartache to repeatedly go through this, and now a decade later, it does not get easier. For the family and friends who understand and get it, we both appreciate it. For those that don't understand, I'm sorry about ya. That's all I got. by @harmonyonthego247

As a runner, I prove to myself that I can endure hard things. Running is about pushing through physical discomfort, & a big part of it is training your brain to stay relentless & keep moving forward while you're uncomfortable. Growth happens in that uncomfortable space, where we adapt & learn to exist in a new way. I don't know that grief has stretched my boundaries, but enduring the heaviness of it has changed me. After every loss, I say goodbye to a version of myself & learn to live in this world as someone new.

When my Dad died in 2024, I was training for a 13.1 back in Oregon. I boarded a flight & learned upon landing, he had unexpectedly died. In the months that followed, I ran through & alongside the grief. Running taught me to endure discomfort, & that included the ugliness of losing my Dad. Since then, I've lost two more loved ones. In July, a precious friend who had walked a long journey w/ cancer passed away. I loved Shelley like the older sister I never had. In September, my uncle Bill (my father's brother), died after his body couldn't recover from a triple bypass following a heart attack. Losing him ripped that Dead Dad wound back open.

I finished my 13.1 last Saturday & went into incognito mode. I boarded a flight hours later, & headed to Oregon. I went home to attend my friend's Celebration of Life & give her kids my love. I spent a girl's day w/ my auntie Nan, my late uncle's wife. I wanted to wrap my arms around her.

This trip begged me to do something I had been putting off. Last summer I unexpectedly received my father's ashes, we ran out of time & bandwidth to scatter them. It never felt right. This time, my brother Jordan & I spent an afternoon going through the rest of Dad's art, letters and pictures, & we decided it was time. My brother has carried so much of the work of settling Dad's things, so I felt this one was mine to handle. I set out in two different directions, leaving Dad in places of familiar paths, serenity, joy, & maybe even fun mixed w/mischief.

I have a small amount left to keep him w/his Challenger. I've also saved enough to launch him from that Challenger at top speed next summer. I think he'd love that.

Drove the car to work today. She started right up after sitting all day! Proud of her 🤣
I love these cooler fall temps, and I think the Challenger likes them too. Having Dad's muscle car is teaching me a crazy amount of patience right now. I am an impatient person and I just want thinks to happen like yesterday!

I love it when a runner I'm coaching leans into the idea of increasing carbohydrates for better performance! 18 miles last week was a struggle and we talked about tweaking carbs to create a better experience. For today's 16 miler she added one gel right before the run, and changed the frequency from every 45 minutes of fuel at 30g, to every 30-40 mins at 40g of carb... plus she sipped some Scratch hydration along the way 😀 👌 👍
Yes you need carbs for fuel and for recovery 💪 🏃‍♀️ by @harmonyonthego247
