The new @lacma sucks ass. Been twice now. Am a member. As a standalone experiential gallery, it would be fab. But to make the entire permanent collection into a chaotic, unpredictable, endlessly rotating random maze of shitty lighting, loud echoing sounds, and donor plaques is practically unbearable. I can no longer see my friends, the favorite pieces I look forward to visiting. The many new spaces around the building are just massive, empty concrete heat sinks devoid of life. No people, plants, or sculptures. Maddening. taken in LACMA Los Angeles County Museum of Art by @harmonyxrose

Checked out the rad new @cequarles show. Super exuberant, kind of sexy, kind of scary, kind of grotesque, colorful but like in an 80s pop putrefaction way. So fun. We saw Brad Pitt at her last show. There was another show in the back gallery, the fab personal collection of Eileen Harris Norton, focused on women & Black artists. Lots to chew on. taken in Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles by @harmonyxrose

It's been exactly 6 months since this little lady Duchess came into our lives. My neighbor surrendered her to a shelter. I had been her cat sitter for a couple years and couldn't bear the thought of her being there. I went and got her, intending just to foster, but of course she's staying. She's so funny and quirky, super frisky for a 9 year old. A master of bleps and Big Loafs. She sat on my lap for the first time the other day. Last pic is her at the shelter - she had to wear a jammie because she was chewing all her fur off 😭 She's so much happier and healthier now. by @harmonyxrose

Every time I think I'm over Mark Ryden, he comes out with something fabulous. Sweet potatoes, weird religious themes, meat.. can't hate. It's well known that his paintings reference objects in his vast personal collection, and this exhibition kindly included them. My buddy was his neighbor in high school, and his house at the time was filled with weird dolls and an altar to Tinkerbell. taken in Perrotin by @harmonyxrose

Rainy day gallery hopping, starting with Souvenir by Kathleen Ryan at @karmakarma9 in Weho 💎 Man these are so cool in person. Rotting fruit made out of thousands of gemstones. Such a great idea. Wish I had thought of it. The gallery has a fab book collection as well. by @harmonyxrose

Getting back into gallery posting with Bacchanalia, the outstanding solo LA debut show by one of my faves @flora_yukhnovich:

"I’m interested in what happens when repetition drains symbolism—when something meant to signify order begins to feel unhinged. I’d like my paintings to capture that tipping point, layering imagery until structure gives way to excess. Like a bacchanalian unravelling or like a still life just before the fruit starts to rot.’ taken in Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles by @harmonyxrose
