Since September is National Suicide Prevention Month and it’s almost over, I wanted to finally share my solo from last season. 🤍 This piece was originally inspired by mental health and suicide awareness both as just a meaningful and relatable concept but became even more personal because of my best friend and everything she went through with facing her mental health. Walking through that season with her had such an impact on me and came with many emotions. and while I would never wish those struggles upon anyone I am also extremely grateful for the experiences and how much they taught us together. Shortly after I started this solo and also my freshman year in high school, I found out she was moving 27 hours away which also made this even more emotional. And as I began high school the same struggles that she went through seemed to become just as relatable for me. Being able to tell part of our story through dance made this piece so much more meaningful to me. I’ll always be grateful for this piece and the message it gives out. but most of all the person who inspired so much of it, and I am so forever grateful she came into my life. If you or someone you know is struggling please don’t hesitate to reach out and know you don’t have to go through it alone. 🫶🏻
