Last night I had the honour of attending the horrendous (ly fun) launch of “Jekyll vs Hyde: The Potion of Doom” by @jmeggittphillips. 🧪 Goodness, what a night! I honestly feel so honoured to be part of this community of brilliant children’s authors now. And honoured to call Jack my friend 💚 (sorry Jack, I know you’re not a fan of emotions)

I read the book this summer and adored it so much I’m now listening to the audiobook – which everyone should do, since Jack narrates it himself! Goodness, this man is quite the multitalent! I’ve never heard a cackle as devious as his… And nobody else can make seemingly mundane scenes as laugh-out-loud funny as Jack! I truly admire him!

In the story, spoiled young Henrik Jekyll has been left his ancestor Dr Jekyll’s house, laboratory, and - most importantly - the secret Hyde Potion recipe. Henrik’s curiosity soon leads him down a dark path, unleashing a chaotic alter – his HYDE. 😈

Jack is currently touring the country with the book and it seems to be a triumph. I’m looking forward to the day I get to attend one of his talks or sessions. And I’m already hugely excited for book 2. Well done, Jack!

PS: Also thanks for giving me a good reason to get out my sewing machine. I love a theme party!💚🖤

Such a fun morning at today’s sold out book club!! We adored the fun of reading Harriet’s latest Mirabelle adventure together and then imagined we were all at our very own magical potions fair!! The children made some truly spooky and sparkly concoctions ✨💗

Some of the children were heading straight off afterwards to the @maidstonelitfest to see Harriet in person and they are all dressed up and looking amazing!! Have a lovely time 💖⭐️

What an AMAZING time at the Jekyll vs Hyde book launch last night! Such a great party and what a hilarious speech @jmeggittphillips

Did I wear bat ears and skeleton earrings even though neither are in the book? Absolutely.
Did I say I was leaving at 9pm and then leave at midnight? Correct again 😂

Jekyll vs Hyde The Potion of Doom is a truly brilliant book that is so funny and absolutely perfect for a gift for someone at this time of year! The illustrations are sooo great! @swain_holly I highly highly recommend it Jack is such a fantastic writer.

Mirabelle is finally old enough to attend the annual Potions Fair for Witches and Wizards with her mum. She’s desperate to get a special magic coin to add to her collections and she hopes she will find it amongst the many weird and wonderful stalls at the fair. Prone to accidental mischief Mirabelle is well and truly on her best behaviour and this time for a change it’s another member of the Starspell family who is causing chaos - her Mum! Will Mirabelle be able to save the day and the potion fair?

We absolutely love Mirabelle, this half witch, half fairy is all fun as far as we are concerned probably because she always being a little bit naughty. This book is one of our favourites in the series we’d both absolutely love to attend a potion fair, most bath times at the moment are spent making witchy brews, so it really couldn’t have come at a better time. The description makes the fair sounds so exciting and we loved the twist where Mirabelle’s Mum was the one in trouble for a change. The illustrations are really lovely, the purple and black work so well together. This is such a great book in this series we will definitely be reading it again.
