Week update!

I’ve been getting BRUTALISED recently… omg… I’ve been on a major tear with work on a new product I’m building and making a lot of headway. I’ve been humbled at tennis and twisted my ankle super bad. I got fucked sideways by the Boston Cop Slide. I am battered.

Despite this, thumbs up! Not much to add really. I’ve been good; staying active, getting dressed, staying sexy, flying around, saying hey, celebrating the arts, and eating well.

Oh yeah, I also forgot to plug that the other week I published a website (in bio) for feel good news. I’ll be promoting it a bit more over coming weeks, already at 1k weekly viewership on organic growth alone - how nice! -🍊it’s been handy for bumping my mood when I’ve been low.

Gonna be pushing a bunch of updates to it this weekend so stay tuned! In the meantime I will be getting dressed botched as hell for a Halloween bonanza!

Is my face shiny by @harry.cn

Last week I was in Milan.

I was only meant to be there a couple days to do a talk with @google but due to handful of convincing factors decided to extend my stay! Let’s go over some of them.

The air of “cool”. I wanted to sit everywhere and have aperitivo and continue meeting people in leisure. I love eating dinner for hours, and al fresco? Heaven. There’s a collective atmosphere curated through generations of tradition which shows itself in tones, faces, and hands. You are in the diva zone. Everyone speaks with their whole oomf. Everyone was a fashion reference.

Bumping into friends; kismet! I posted about how there were all these places to sit but no one to sit with, and almost immediately those seats were filled. I caught up with @juliaglavv who I haven’t seen since maybe grade 7 and is now a local, she took me around, drove us out to her favourite spots at Lake Como, and were just being girls together. I saw @byandersonx, who I haven’t seen since I moved to NY, for drinks, food, and economic stimulus. And I caught up with @maxhmclean who just moved to Milan from Sydney, and just happened to be living very close by to my hotel. It felt very homey to have aspects of community around in a place where I can’t speak the language. I’m always so grateful to soak up just a short while of their busy lives 😭❤️

The people are passionate and cerebral. You should definitely get love bombed by big wet beautiful Italian eyes. It’s healing. A reminder of intimacy and connection is always important in our ever more depersonalised world. Hug those around you, hold more hands, and share more kisses.

My talk had a typo in the title so let’s gloss over that. I’m glad that a lot of people came away with lessons from it and found it useful. Some came to discuss further with me after over some coffees and pastries and lunch and wine. I got to hear more about where they live, what life looks like for them where they are, and invitations to their homes when the time makes itself available. I only really travel for people, and I’m thankful to be welcomed into their homes. Ugh, I love hanging out 🌸

Back to NY! by @harry.cn

Week update!

Well it’s actually been two weeks but let’s forget about that. A lot’s happened. A lot in terms of food and cultural celebration…and you know what else? Personal revelation. Yes… I am once again… becoming!

It was mid autumn festival last week. I had Chinese food and moon cake every night to honor being Chinese. The sky was pink like cotton candy and there was a rainbow too. If you missed it that’s actually devastating because it was perhaps a top 3 sunset of all time. Ever

Between conferences and screaming internally at work I am constantly surrounded by good company. I forgot who said it but “never eat alone” is right. Many faces from home in town, we were goofing around like old times but in LES instead of Surry Hills. Heart overflowing. Wishing them all safe trips back, and a “see you soon” as I head home in December! I’m around for 3 weeks from Xmas, so if you’re there say hello. There are still things on my farewell activity list to get through.

I visited Portland (Maine) for a few days to do a talk. Thanks to Google, Oracle, and AWS for putting it on. Met some amazing people and ate a lot of lobster. I wish I got some photos but media comes out later anyway. What a quaint town. Everyone is so nice.

I’m only back for a few days before heading to Milan for another talk with Google, but I’m trying to maximise beauty in the home. So I have gotten back into ikebana and also looking at myself. You can’t argue that my disposition is pleasant.

Milan this week. Bye bye! by @harry.cn

Do you think we can make love on the swan boats in Echo Park?

After spending 17 hours in the air with swamp nuts I landed in NYC to shower, change, and hop on a plane to LAX. Never a bad time here. Vibrant friends, foods, and colours.

I popped in for the week to have a bit of calm. Turned out quite opposite to that with work, hard workouts, and a community of enablers. But I’ve had an incredible time.

I also got to see Arlo Parks which has been a wish of mine for years. Never trust a man named Eugene.

Been thinking about setting up something bicoastal for a while now. Still figuring out how that will materialise, but with each trip it feels closer. Expect me next month. by @harry.cn

Wild horses and flower beds.

I thought I was going camping but a relative put us up in his tundra resort. It came with a furry friend trio. From left to right I named them: Chair, Man, and Mao. They escorted us everywhere, like in The Cat Returns 🐈🐈🐈🎺🎊

We rode horseback on the grounds. Apparently their horses were still a bit wild and unpredictable, so they didn’t let us free ride unsupervised into the mountain tops. Probably for the best, I wouldn’t be writing this otherwise.

My mum looked like Fa Mulan.

Went hiking in the ranges and saw the glaciers where all the water comes from out here. Very cool. It reminded me of the Dolomites, and the fun I had with my friends out there. It would’ve been about this time last year. I got nostalgic wondering how everyone is doing, I wished them well. Then I saw a lamb in a hat. Wow, the present is a gift.

My favourite colour to look at is green.

Tonight I head back to NYC. I’ve acquired a bad bout of tonsillitis and a new BMI. You’ll feel it when I land. 🫨 by @harry.cn

Been all over the place in this big fat province. A lot of lamb skewers, hot springs, and time with the oldies. Most mornings I got out to join in on some Tai Chi during sunrise.

Seems like everyone’s house has a grape vine at a minimum and an assortment of fruiting trees. First activity at every home was an introduction to the harvest. Feeling very Anthony Bourdain No Reservations. One thing I forgot about China is that bringing fruit to a restaurant is the norm. They wash, cut, and plate it all up for you. So cute, BYO fruit🍊

Saw some faces old and new. Mainly old because they’re retired and free to hangout. Most cousins and stuff are working interstate so they didn’t have the time to show face! That’s fine though because it just means I’ve got a guide in each of those cities next year!

Had a somber moment saying hello to my late grandparents, swept the grave and paid my dues. Sandwiched that between big lazy Susan lunches that bled into dinners. Crashed a couple of weddings in the Snoopy-mobile (the pu$$y wagon) and laughed a lot in broken Mandarin.

Get your @mistersundaynyc merch at the Great Wall of China while stocks last 👅‼️

After a catastrophic plane failure and two rebookings, a multi-hour conversation with a lovely lady on her way to Bali to complete her 500 yoga hours, I finally made it to 中国.

It’s been 8 years. The familiar scent of cigarettes, humidity, chives, and lamb prevail. Only difference is that all the cars are quiet, and everything’s online. It’s peaceful, it’s efficient, it’s AliPay.

I love coming to Beijing because an uncle always sends his driver. He babysits me while I’m here; taking me around, seeing stuff, shipping me between the family engagements. I feel like Diana. (I’m being mindful of tunnels)

It’s nostalgic grabbing ripe fruit roadside again. On late nights it hits different compared to chicken over rice from the bodega. My favourite variety this time around is the cape gooseberry. I maintain my loyalty to citrus though‼️🍊

I’ve been stopped a few times by people on the street asking if I’m an athlete. My parents are sick of it. But I can’t help it! The People want a piece of me and the method is written on my chest.

Seeing extended family next. by @harry.cn
