Avenged sevenfold x 30 seconds to mars

This just sounds really funny. Also because of mixing a 6/8 song with a 4/4 song it sounds completely off beat despite being correct as one song is resolving 1.5x faster than the other lol

One step further

One step closer but shifting the beat an eighth note back. Creates this cool completely different but still familiar beat. The triplets around 20 seconds in are without a doubt the most disgusting little lick ive ever played on drums. Our ears are used to hearing the song as on beat, so we perceive the triplets as being notes 2, 4, 6 of a 6 beat division while in reality they are a normal triplet

Being a drummer is so unserious bro we just be doing stuff like this all day

This is a metric modulation from 12/8 to 16/8 (which simplifies to 4/4) playing 3 bars of 16 instead of 4 bars of 12. 3x16 is the same as 4x12 which is why it works. Quick maths.

PERIPHERY RAHHHHH

That first periphery album is so nu metal coded too. It is also (objectively) their only album with no skips.

Something about playing this song makes my brain feel good.
