A long journey — and it’s only the beginning.
Performing this historical piece in the year of its 50th anniversary feels almost unthinkable — always a dream, a wish from afar. And suddenly, it became reality. I feel nothing but gratitude, in every cell of my body.

Since my time studying dance in Brazil, deeply immersed in the history of the art form, the universe of this company seemed distant, almost utopian, unattainable. I already knew fragments of this work — it was the first piece that truly moved me, even through brief video excerpts. To arrive in Germany and, today, experience it from within still feels unbelievable.

I am profoundly grateful to my family, to the teachers and friends who have been part of my journey up to this point. My thanks to the three rehearsal directors for selecting me to embark on this honorary path. My deepest gratitude to Pina Bausch and Hans Popp; to the 1975 cast, who collaborated and believed in the power of this piece; to the 2025 cast, for bringing to life once again this masterpiece of the performing arts; and to the entire team of professionals at @tanztheaterwuppertal , who made this performance possible.

Dancing these 35 minutes demands a profound desire — the intensity equals two hours or more. It is a constant battle with oneself, a continuous crossing of physical and mental boundaries. Every day, one must become an alchemist of forces, balancing energy and surrender. To be strong and to have strength do not always walk hand in hand; here, it is essential to find the precise measure between power, relaxation, speed, and precision in order to endure.

And almost before the beginning of the end, we connect with the most beautiful and aromatic natural obstacle: the earth. Each day, a new terrain, a new challenge — still under exploration. In the end, it consumes and decomposes everything. Clans are formed. Man is chosen to become the earth itself.
