Last year I went to Seattle to visit one of my best friends who moved there a few years prior. When he asked me what I wanted to do while I was there my only response was that it was an absolute necessity to go to Wall Of Sound before I left.

We ended up spending 4 days driving around to waterfalls and record and comic shops in both Seattle and Portland just hanging out and catching up. It was a blast. We probably visited a dozen shops in that trip, and I am deadly serious when I tell you that Wall Of Sound was so good that I ended up going back a second time before l left.

The experience was beyond memorable. Incredible curation-tons of rare jazz, 80s industrial, noise, and modern experimental sounds of all shapes and sizes, all at fair prices. A knowledgeable and friendly staff that was excited to show me all the secret pockets in the store. It was everything I missed about going into a shop. No pretension. Tasteful and minimal IG presence. A sense of excitement and wonder on what I was going to find next digging through everything. Absolute tops. My buddy Justin, who spent a decade of his life in Seattle before being forced to move back to LA, always gave the shop the highest of praises and recommended I go if I ever visited. He was so on point. Going through the door felt like it offered the perfect opportunity to reconnect with the spirit and memory of my dear friend.

It saddens me that I won’t be able to visit @wallofsoundrecords again the next time I visit Seattle, but I’m so glad I got to experience it when I did. It was without a doubt one of the best record shops I’ve ever experienced.

Since I couldn’t go in to say goodbye and thank them in person, I picked up this long time want from their Discogs. If you have the ability, I suggest you pick something up as well.

Cult Of Luna @ Spaceland 2005. I’m willing to bet that these were taken by @facetioushorse using my digital camera. That or she shot them with her camera and they were somehow absorbed and put into one of my old photo folders.
