Ironman World Championship aside, it's been my dream to come to Hawaii. Turns out Knut has the same dream too, making this trip extra special for both of us.

Seeing and trying the race course when we've only been watching it through YouTube all these years, so unreal 🥹

Had a mini panic attack during swim practice this morning that shook my open water confidence. Not used to swimming in clear water and I kept messing up my navigation. But I like what @wm_akmal said to @mimi_ruslan , nak banyak buoy, baik masuk local events, jangan masuk World Championship. Ok, time to harden the f up and try again tomorrow.

Ran at Energy Lab where @tkwhawaii said it's the place where it will suck all your soul. It's already mental enough to run that section when it's bright, bracing myself to have a lonely run in complete darkness.

Also, couldn't resist posing beside the legendary Queen K Highway, part of the bike and run course.

OMG WE DID IT B - IRONMAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN KONA 😭😭😭

Did I just say that?! Remember 9 years ago, when you waited for me anxiously at the finish line in Langkawi and everything was shutdown already because I went over the cut-off time? Then I DNF again in Spain 2022. But this year you were busy updating me on my position and urging me to chase down any ladies I could see on the run.

I had no idea why you were pushing me so much that night. I didn't know we were gunning for Kona. It was NEVER the plan (via Legacy, maybe). The races this year are supposed to be test events only.

The pain was unbearable during the run but I trusted your instructions. I didn't ask question. I was hurting so bad that I almost had to enter another realm to detach my soul from my body. Ended up in medic tent post race and got a fever.

Woke up the next morning, still no clue about Kona qualification. Attended the ceremony "just to see". The age group for 50s had only 4 slots. Nursya's age group had 7 slots and she got it! My heart started racing, OMG is this f*cking happening? When they said there are 6 slots for my age group, I started crying (I suddenly wanted to check my result again to confirm I'm actually in 6th place), before I could reach for my phone, Pete Murray announced "for our final spot, Female 40 to 44, from Malaysia, Harum Delima!" Fuhhhh I'm shaking as I'm typing this.

B, you never stopped believing in me. You told me time and time again, it (the result) will come. I've always known that you're a great teacher/coach, but I didn't think I would have the best race of my life with the best swim ever, faster than my wetsuit swim. Sub 2 pace in Langkawi, can you believe it? 😭😭 And for the first time I felt ONE with the bike during a long race. Too bad I couldn't deliver a sub 5 hour run as planned, ah just short of that to execute that sub-13 dream.

You took care of my nutrition, equipment set up, and mental health, my job was just to show up. This year I raced by feel because you told me to just go for it. Not only I raced freely but also happily. WE did it 😭 taken in Langkawi Island, Malaysia by @harumdelima

Medal Monday - from Sydney Marathon

Danl executed with belief and ran like a champ, and came away with a 10 minute improvement to his pb.
At 4:31:08 he was only a toilet break away from going sub 4:30 too. Great effort!

Some say finding a good Hyrox partner is even harder than finding a life partner.
There's the stress and challenges on race day, where you should leave your ego behind to do what's best for the team.
And more so, during the prep and training. It's easy to sign up when everyone's hyped up, but a different story to put in the work to get ready.

I was very lucky, because Jepah and I had quite similar approach to everything. Both were open on our strength and weaknesses and ready to adjust accordingly.
It was fun when we trained together, and when we didn't, I think both trusted that we both got the work done.
On race tactics we had the same understanding of what we needed to achieve. Up until the last day we were still tinkering with it as we kept on learning from watching others race, and from hearing everyone's experiences.

Then came race day, it was pretty much all fun. It went by very fast, maybe because it was our first time so we were very focused on doing the right things - count the laps, find the exits (although we both went wrong after the sled pull🤣), smooth change overs, try to not get overcooked. And before we knew it we were at the wall balls, sprinting for the finish line.

Before the race when people asked what my target was, I didn't have an answer, because I didn't really have any timing goals. Since it was our first time it was hard to estimate, and also I think the first time you do anything you should just focus on finishing and having a good experience.
And as I try to tell everyone, the focus is on execution, every second. That's the foundation for any good performance.
And I was so happy with our execution that I didn't really care about our finishing time, but I was very positively surprised, almost shocked, when I checked my watch and expected 1:20 something but saw 1:13 instead.

Thanks to everyone who have supported, adviced, guided, inspired and been part of the journey to our first race Harum, Pat, Jepah, D, Kit, Eva, Ben, Fareh, Joyce, Sam, Prince, Mark, Backyard.

I AM SO PROUD OF US 😍

@tortoise.pat was on a 3 years plus hiatus, she could barely run in March this year. Not easy to take care of her dad and manage a new business at the same time. While I could not do any sled push or pull.

It's very easy to be hard on ourselves. Questioning whether we could or should have gone faster. 4 months ago we had no clue how to do any of these! And now not only we could train with men's weight, we're also Hyrox finishers 🥹 thank you @teamhaugcoaching for the training, you made it so enjoyable and not forgetting another training partner of ours @huzaifahx

Special thanks to the community & platform created by @thebackyardtraining , together with the support from @missipohmali @hewprince , we had more confidence going into this race.

Would we do this again? HELLZ YEA 🔥

A week has passed, yet it still feels like it all happened yesterday. Capturing Harum and Pat’s maiden HYROX race in @hyroxtha was definitely a memorable experience and in a way, it was also my first real venture into @hyroxworld

Thank you both for trusting me to capture your race moments. Honestly, without you guys, I probably would never have imagined myself shooting a HYROX event in the first place. A big thank you to @samuelwye18 as well for the opportunity to be there in Bangkok 🇹🇭

Being able to work as a hybrid shooter, capturing both photos and videos, was something new for me and there’s definitely so much more to explore and learn in future HYROX events.

Here’s to more races, more memories, and more unforgettable moments to capture 📸📹🎞️
