POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Did you know 90% of our crop diversity has vanished in the last century? šŸŒšŸ’”

Hybrid seeds might promise high yields, but they come at a cost—less flavor, less nutrition, and less control over our food supply.Ā Heirloom seeds, on the other hand, areĀ biodiversity powerhouses, preservingĀ flavor, resilience, and food sovereigntyĀ for future generations.
šŸ…
Behind this staggering loss lies a quiet crisis in our fields—and in our seed packets. Hybrid seeds, engineered for uniformity and shelf life, dominate grocery stores and commercial farms. They promise convenience, but at what cost?Ā Less flavor. Less nutrition. Less control over our food.Ā And worst of all, they force us into a cycle of dependency, where saving seeds isn’t just discouraged—it’s often impossible.
🌱
Heirloom seeds tell a different story. Passed down through generations like family heirlooms, these open-pollinated treasures areĀ alive with flavor, brimming with nutrients, and resilient to local climates.Ā They adapt, evolve, and thrive—without chemicals or corporate patents. Growing heirlooms isn’t just about what’s on your plate today. It’s aboutĀ protecting the biodiversity of our planet, securing food sovereignty for future generations, and reclaiming the power to feed ourselves on our own terms.
šŸŒŽ
When we lose our seeds, we loseĀ our future.Ā And that’s a price none of us can afford to pay. Let’s grow something real. Something alive. Something that connects us to the earth, to our ancestors, and to the generations yet to come. šŸŒ±šŸ’š

Starting with just one variety each season can make a difference. What varieties did you grow this year?

I’d love to know, leave a comment below!!šŸ‘‡šŸ¼

ā€œGrow Food, Not Lawnsā€ is a rebellion against a society obsessed with structured aesthetics. I’ve never understood why pour chemicals into the earth, douse it in water, only to trim meticulously, just so we can do it all over again week after week.

Not only are we wasting pressure water, time, and contaminating our soil with invasive grasses and synthetic chemicals that seep into our streams, rivers, and drinking water. We are then letting our animals and children play in these yards and fields that have been sprayed with more pesticides to keep uniformity and weeds out.

But, what if that patch of land could give back? What if instead of a chemical-dependent monoculture of green, we nurtured soil, pollinators, and nourishment? Food grows in harmony with nature—roots that heal, leaves that feed, fruits that sustain. It’s beauty with purpose, abundance over waste, restoration over routine.🌿

The earth doesn’t care if your yard is Instagram-perfect. It cares if it’s alive. So let’s grow food. Let’s grow health. Let’s grow a future where every seed sown is a step toward healing the land—and ourselves.

🌱✨

✨There’s something sacred about August—how the golden light at dusk softens everything it touches, and the garden, at last, begins to exhale a little. It’s where summer lingers just long enough to remind us:Ā This is the time to savor.šŸ…

For so many of us—especially women who are constantly told weĀ shouldĀ be doing more, doing it faster, doing itĀ perfectly—August arrives like a quiet rebellion.Ā It asks us to pause.Ā To stand barefoot in the soil and breathe. To let the tomatoes ripen at their own pace instead of rushing them along with stress. To watch the bees drift from flower to flower, unhurried, and remember:Ā Patience isn’t laziness. It’s wisdom.šŸ™

Yes, the heat is relentless. The to-do list still looms. But here’s the truth:Ā Stressing over these temperatures won’t make my plants grow faster.Ā It won’t make the tomatoes turn red before their time, and it won’t bring the harvest any sooner. WhatĀ willĀ bring me peace?Ā Stepping back. Wiping the sweat from my brow. And, finally, tasting the fruits of my labor.ā˜€ļø

This month, I’m giving myself permission to:
✨ Walk the garden paths without an agenda—just toĀ look.
✨ Pick a tomato, still warm from the sun, and eat it like it’s the first bite of summer.
✨ Sit on the porch with a cup of coffee watching the hummingbirds zip by
✨ Remember that growth isn’t linear. Neither is life.

🌱What’s your favorite thing about August in the garden?

Do you have a moment this season that reminded you to pause and savor? Share below—I’d love to hear your stories! ā¬‡ļø

🌼 Protect Your Garden the Natural Way! 🌱

Swap those toxic chemicals forĀ beauty and the benefitsĀ by plantingĀ calendula, nasturtiums, marigolds, and herbsĀ in your garden! 🌿These vibrant companions aren’t just pretty—they’reĀ pest-repellent powerhousesĀ that boost soil health, attract pollinators, and even deter harmful insects. šŸšŸš«šŸœ

Why they work:ā€Øāœ…Ā Calendula – Attracts pollinators, repels aphids, and has antifungal properties.ā€Øāœ…Ā Nasturtiums – Trap pests like aphids and squash bugs while adding a peppery edible boost!ā€Øāœ…Ā Marigolds – Deter nematodes, whiteflies, and even rabbits with their strong scent.ā€Øāœ…Ā Herbs (basil, dill, cilantro, chives) – Confuse pests, attract beneficial insects, and improve flavor in companion planting.

Pro tip:Ā Plant them near veggies like tomatoes, cucumbers, and lettuce to create aĀ natural pest shield—no synthetic chemicals needed!

🌿 Swap. Grow. Thrive.

🌿Bright, Fresh, and Bursting with Flavor:

Your Summer Garden Pesto🌿

There’s nothing quite like the taste of summer captured in a single spoonful of homemade pesto, made with the freshest herbs from your garden. This vibrant, fragrant sauce is the perfect way to celebrate the season’s bounty, whether you’re tossing it with pasta, spreading it on toast, or drizzling it over grilled vegetables. Unlike store-bought versions laden with preservatives, this recipe lets the natural flavors of basil, garlic, pine nuts, and Parmesan shine.🌿

The best part? You can customize it endlessly—swap in arugula for peppery depth, add sun-dried tomatoes for a tangy twist, or blend in spinach for extra greens. Plus, making pesto in bulk and freezing it means you can enjoy a taste of summer’s sunshine even on the coldest winter days. Ready to bring the garden to your table? Let’s get blending! 🌿

🌱Keep your basil thriving all summer long!🌱

Want lush, full, and bushy basil that lasts all season long?

Pinch or snip the first set of flowers that appear even when the plants are small. This simple trick redirects the energy from flowering to soon l, to leaf production! Encouraging more growth as plants get bigger and bushier instead of growing tall and eventually flowering too soon. Try this easy tip for a longer harvest!

āœ…Why it works:
🌿prevents bolting(going to seed to soon)
🌿promotes bushier, fuller plants
🌿keeps leaves tender and flavorful

Pro tip: Regularly trim the tops of your basil to encourage even more branching. The more you harvest, the more it grows!

We’ve been raised in a world that treats nature as a resource to exploit, and We’ve been raised in a world that treats nature as a resource to exploit and degrade—a mindset that takes without giving back. But what if we shifted that relationship? What if, instead of taking, we learned to live in harmony with the Earth?šŸ’š

It’s time to embrace a new way of living: one that respects, reciprocates, and regenerates. A way that ensures future generations inherit a planet that’s not just habitable, but thriving. A way that leaves the Earth better than we found it. Now more than ever Mother Nature is begging for us to wake up and come back to our roots, our connection to land and the natural world around us before it’s too late. If not now, when?

🌱Think it’s to late for a garden this season? Think again!!

July isn’t the end-it’s your second chance! While many look at their gardens this time of year and think well that was a good run and give up, many are sadly mistaken. šŸ„•

July is a tough time in the garden. Everything is either eaten, bolted, or over taken by pests, it’s easy to want to throw in the towel. But it’s also your second chance for replanting and seeding for the second half of our growing season. šŸ‘©ā€šŸŒ¾

Your summer garden dreams don’t have to be over! No matter what growing zone your in you can still plant these crops and enjoy a late summer early-fall harvest!

These are crops you can still get growing in your garden! šŸ‘‡šŸ¼

If your not giving up yet, like and save for later!!

Happy Planting!🌱

Life gets better when you stop buying into what everyone else is selling and start growing what truly matters.🌱

Plant a garden. Grow your own food. Slow down. Change with the seasons. Consume less, create more.

The more I grow the more I realize that abundance isn’t found in bigger houses, busier schedules, or endless scrolling-it’s found in a handful of fresh tomatoes, dirt under your fingernails, and a deeper connection to your community, your food, and the earth.šŸŒ

Maybe the good life was meant to stay simple.
