Winning second-row Bon Jovi tickets at 15 and thinking “I want to do THAT” is one way to know radio is calling your name. 😂📻

WMRQ (Radio 104.1) Hartford’s Morning Show Host + Assistant Program Director Amy Grey dropped in for Famous Firsts with @heyshawnski to talk about the DJs, stations, and moments that shaped her journey through radio. From listening to Casey Kasem on the way to church to chasing her dream of being behind the mic, Amy’s story is all about finding your voice and making radio your own.

And her first thing at the station every morning? Disinfect the studio. THEN lock in. 😂

Proof that indie rock, anime, and an odd amount of lyrics about rocks and dirt make for one seriously fun band 🪲🎸

Toronto’s own @goodkidband are bringing their fast-paced, guitar-driven sound straight from the 2000s rock era with big vocals, catchy leads, and influences ranging from @thestrokes and @thisisblocparty to @falloutboy and @arcticmonkeys. Their newest single “Cicada” is an unabashed love song about pushing yourself outside your comfort zone, embracing change, and becoming someone worth getting to know. Huge shoutout to @metalcircus_ and Marco Rojas at @thesynradio for giving #HAPPENS’ @heyshawnski the VIP Access!

👉 Head to the Link in Bio to meet Good Kid, check out “Cicada,” and dive deeper into their story!

Four months ago, @socialdistortion dropped their eighth studio album … but the road to Born to Kill was anything but easy.

At HAPPENS, @mikeness sat down with @matthewpinfield for a candid conversation about life, health, music, and everything it took to get here.

One of those HAPPENS moments that sticks with you.

If Born to Kill isn’t in your rotation yet, fix that. 🤘#hashtaghappens #newmusic #rock taken in Las Vegas, Nevada by @hashtag.happens

Going from teaching local music lessons to having your single go viral is the exact kind of plot twist we love to see. 📈

Sacramento’s own @jonwiilde just dropped “Home Is You” featuring @rosieldarling, blending that perfect sweet spot of nostalgic folk with modern alternative pop. Between running a local music school, playing shows, and fostering over 30 senior rescue dogs, he’s living proof that good energy makes great records.

Major shoutout to Nick Bedding @ncb2000 at @nettwerkmusic for giving #HAPPENS’s @heyshawnski the VIP Access to get to know Jon this week!

Making your second-ever radio call and getting completely roasted by the program director is a rite of passage. 💀

@bigloudrock’s Senior Director of National Promotion, Brien Terranova, dropped in for Famous Firsts with @heyshawnski to recount his journey from a 19-year-old intern at Virgin Records to working hard rock records at radio.

Shoutout to @thaddeusrudd for giving him his very first shot in the industry back in the day!

Proof that the best therapy sessions don’t happen on a couch; they happen in a crowded room with turned-up amps 🎸

London’s own @leap_the_band just scored the #1 Most Added spot at Alternative radio with their monster single “Exit Signs”! Out of deep personal tragedy and mental struggles, lead singer Jack Scott joined forces with his best mates to build something truly healing and undeniably electric. Their new album “Entropy” pays direct tribute to Jack’s late father, and they are officially kicking off their US tour dates this September. Huge shoutout to @recordchick at @epitaphrecords and #HAPPENS’s @heyshawnski for VIP Access!

A classic music movie coming to life in real time is the ultimate dream. 🎬

KROQ’s Megan Holiday breaks down her “Famous Firsts” from early days riding around the IE with KOLA 99.9 to calling into KIIS to chat with JoJo On The Radio and learning the ropes from her mentor, Menace. When asked about her biggest career highlight, she pointed to her sit-down with iconic journalist Ben Fong-Torres. Growing up loving Almost Famous, being interviewed by the legend himself was a dream come true.

👉 Swipe through to check out Megan’s industry firsts, and tap the Link in Bio for the full feature! Big thanks to Shawn Alexander for checking in. by @hashtag.happens
