We made it to 13k followers?! Hi new people! It’s been a while since we introduced ourselves, so here’s the long and short—

Back in 2018 I started baking funny colored sourdough using fresh milled flour out my kitchen/home made wood fired oven. Just a few loaves at a time for friends, family, coworkers, and eventually a few strangers at the farmers market. Then a few more strangers at Erewhon, more farmers markets, and more neighbors.

From baking at home, to a tiny kitchen behind a gas station… through COVID and a handful of other challenges… to here. Our very own bakery in Mar Vista almost 8 years later.

It’s been a wild journey, to say the least. Along the way we’ve built an incredible team and family, and found community in so many amazing neighborhoods across LA—whether that’s at your local farmers market or a favorite eatery serving our bread.

I feel incredibly lucky to be here sharing this loaf with you. We’re a family-owned and operated business that has grown entirely because of your support. I mean, I met my wife at the farmers market. Now we have a kid who runs around the same market snacking on our favorite farmers’ produce. It’s the best thing ever. We haven’t taken on loans, outside investment, or other capital, and we’re really proud of that (even though it’s really, really hard).

We are no bigger or smaller than how you choose to spend your dollar.

Thank you for taking us this far. I can’t wait to see where we go next (you tell us).

Starting Oct. 1, we’re introducing our apple pie latte 🍎 available hot or cold, but when you choose iced, you have the option of going “à la mode” by adding a homemade vanilla bean cream top (seriously tastes like ice cream!!) As usual, our syrup is made from scratch using farmer’s market fresh apples and organic spices! 🍂 taken in Häsi Bread by @hasibread

We’ve been working hard to bring you a permanent, mini market 🧺 choosing only local and/or small brands that practices the same ethics and values we do. It’s been a treat to see it grow.
